At the end of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Rey's story was concluded when she made it known that she was a Skywalker. As she gazed at Tatooine's two suns in the final scene, audiences were convinced that would be the last time they would ever see the Force-sensitive heroine. But never say never - in a recent conversation with bestselling author Sarah Wilson, Daisy Ridley said she hasn't completely ruled out returning to the series and reprising the role.
Wilson took to Twitter to share snippets of their discussion, during which she asked Ridley if she would still be open to returning to the Star Wars as Rey. Previous reports had said she was done with the series altogether, but Ridley explained that such claims were taken out of context and that she'd gladly suit up as Rey again, given the opportunity. "It's not like... I'm like no more Star Wars," she added.

That said, Wilson also said Ridley felt "the ending was complete" and that she "was happy with it," which could be a hint that the sequel trilogy will not be revived or extended, at least in the near future. Yet, despite the unlikelihood, rumors continue to spread that a reboot is in the works as a Disney Plus series. Star Wars leaker Doomcock recently reported that Disney could be looking into creating three ten-episode series based on The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and Rise of Skywalker.
His sources claim that Disney would completely revamp The Last Jedi in particular, removing the theatrics of Leia's flying sequence and renaming the series altogether. Rise of Skywalker would also be "100 percent" different and franchise icon Mark Hamill would come back to give Luke Skywalker a proper ending; that is, "as long as he is in good health."
Rey's survival at the end of the sequel trilogy means that if Disney and Lucasfilm ever decide to produce future films or television shows on her story, they can always bring her back. For example, it would make sense for Rey to return if there was a chance that Ben Solo was still alive; though the only way this could be possible is if he became a Force ghost like his father, Han Solo, while trapped in the World Between Worlds.
For now, fans can explore other stories within the Star Wars universe with upcoming projects such as Star Wars: The Bad Batch and The Book of Boba Fett, which are set to release on Disney Plus this year.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy is currently available to stream on Disney Plus.
