Fans of Supergiant's Hades may have a new game to look forward to on the horizon. From developers Mad Mimic comes Dandy Ace, a rogue-lite game about a magician attempting to escape from an enchanted mirror. The way the titular Dandy Ace goes about doing this shares similar elements to Zagreus' escape from the underworld in Hades. Mad Mimic has now dropped a trailer and a release date, giving players a greater sense of what to expect and when to expect it.
The trailer shows off many of Dandy Ace's features, from the cards Dandy Ace will be using to channel abilities to help him escape, to character and boss designs. It also shows off one of the game's "bizarre bosses," the axolotl painter named Axolangelo. One of the most important things it reveals however, is a March 25 release date on Steam. No console release date was given however.

One of the more notable features of Hades was the abilities the gods of Olympus would bestow upon Zagreus during each of his attempts to escape the underworld. Dandy Ace has a similar system, but instead of being granted abilities by allies, Dandy Ace is instead granted abilities from the aforementioned various types of cards he finds while trying to escape.
What made Hades a relatively approachable game compared to others within its same genre is also present in Dandy Ace; that being the ability to obtain permanent upgrades and items for the player character. In this way, players are essentially guaranteed to make it out if they are persistent enough.
One aspect of Hades that does not appear to be present in Dandy Ace is the contextual character interactions. Hades focused a lot on its characters and they'd often respond to specific things Zagreus had done. While Dandy Ace does seem to have a colorful cast of characters, it does look like they might be taking a back seat to the gameplay.
Dandy Ace will be available on PC on March 25.
