Soulja Boy's involvement with the games industry has been puzzling, to say the least. While fans of the rapper might not immediately point to his career as a video game hardware manufacturer as the highlight of his success in the entertainment industry, the artist did, in fact, create the SouljaGame handheld console, even if it didn't turn out too well.
While removing the SouljaGame from stores might have deterred the faint of heart, it appears that Soulja Boy isn't done with the games industry quite yet, as it appears that the rapper has his own idea for a video game, even going so far as to ask Tony Hawk for help getting a deal like the one Hawk has with Activision for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

It is, of course, a peculiar set of circumstances, and neither Tony Hawk nor Activision seems to have taken notice of Soulja Boy's call for help just yet. Soulja Boy didn't elaborate on what his video game idea is, though a tweet from the Soulja Game Console Twitter account indicates that an entirely new version of the console is in the works. It's possible that Soulja Boy's idea ties in directly with the new hardware.
The ball is in Tony Hawk's and Activision's court now, though it's difficult to guess what will become of this. It's possible that Soulja Boy's idea never comes to fruition, but if the rapper and his fans campaign hard enough, anything is possible. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that a celebrity has landed their own game. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is one example, but there are others on a widely varying scale, from ShaqFu to Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.
The process behind creating a game isn't so simple, though, and Soulja Boy will need a strong pitch if he truly wants to get his project in motion. Asking for Tony Hawk's help, specifically, may be an indication of what the rapper has in mind, possibly a project that licenses Soulja Boy's image, but there are too many question marks to say for sure.
Time will tell how everything shakes out, though, and who knows, maybe Soulja Boy will manage to get his video game made. Stranger things have happened, and while game development has been largely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, Soulja Boy may still have the resources needed to put things in motion. Seeing where things land will certainly be an adventure, though.
