With Monster Hunter Rise's release date fast approaching, Capcom has revealed yet another trailer that showcases off some returning monsters as well as two new monsters. Additionally, the trailer showcases more of the rampage mechanic players can expect to face when they pick up the game.
In an early trailer for Monster Hunter Rise, there was a brief glimpse at a spider-like monster. Many fans believed that the monster could be a returning monster, Nersyclla, or its subspecies Shrouded Nerscylla. However, fans eventually realized that it was in fact a complete new Temnoceran class monster. Despite the fact that the monster's armor and charge blade appeared to be in the demo released previously, the monster had still yet to be officially revealed. Now Capcom has revealed that it's name is Rakna-Kadaki.

As for the other new monster revealed in the trailer, it is known as Almudron. Almudron appears to be a leviathan class monster that uses mud to attack players. Previous monsters such as Jyuratodus have used mud in their move-sets, but mud looks to be the main tool in Almudron's arsenal. The trailer shows it slinging mud from its tail and even creating entire columns of mud across the battlefield.
Several returning monster were also confirmed. Basarios, a rocky flying wyvern that has a number of fire abilities is returning. Volidon a fanged beast that is sort of a cross between an armadillo and an anteater also returns to roll over players and inflict them with the stench status ailment.
Other monsters shown off briefly include, include Diablos, the recurring flying wyvern that likes to dig underground and charge at hunters, the series mascot Rathalos, and the fanged beast Rajang.
Rajang was shown during footage detailing the new rampage mechanic in game. Details have been hinted at for some time, but it appears to be exactly what it looked like all along: a fight against multiple monsters at the same time as the hunters try to protect the village from them. The village apparently experienced a rampage 50 years ago, and having suffered heavy loses from it, has set up armaments and gates to try to defend against it again.
During the rampage gameplay footage, an Apex Arzuros was also shown off. Previously seen in Monster Hunter 4 (Ultimate), Apex monsters were monsters who became stronger from being infected with the Frenzy Virus. Notably, the Frenzy Virus was inflicted by the monsters Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala, neither of which have been confirmed to be returning in Monster Hunter Rise. This may indirectly confirm their return.
Two new locations, a desert area and a volcano area were also shown off in the trailer. Basarios, Rakna-Kadaki, and Volvidon reside in the volcano area. No specific monster was shown in the desert area, but it would be fair to assume that is where Diablos will be fought.
The trailer ends with the two quest maidens taking up arms themselves, though it is unclear what exactly this entails.
Monster Hunter Rise will release on Switch on March 26, 2021.
