The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is listed on the Nintendo Switch eShop, revealing some interesting new details about the game.

One of the biggest announcements from the February 2021 Nintendo Direct presentation was the reveal of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Nintendo Switch. A remastered version of the critically-acclaimed Wii game, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will launch this summer for the Switch, and will be a mostly faithful recreation of the original game. However, it seems there will be at least some new features, like amiibo support.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD amiibo support was confirmed by the game's eShop listing. Unfortunately, it wasn't revealed what exactly amiibo will do in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, but if past Zelda games are any indication, they will likely give players some kind of in-game advantage, like refilling their hearts or something along those lines. The game will likely be compatible with existing Zelda series amiibo, and maybe Nintendo will release some new amiibo to match Skyward Sword, though that has not been confirmed at the time of this writing.

Another interesting detail fans can get from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD eShop page is in the game's file size. As it turns out, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will take up about 7.5 GB of Nintendo Switch storage, which isn't too bad. Of course, those that choose to get the physical version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD won't have to worry about the file size at all.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD so far sounds like it will appeal to fans of the original game, and it may also appeal to those who weren't fans of Skyward Sword on the Wii. While The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii earned near-universal acclaim from critics, some complained about how it required players to use motion controls. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on the Switch makes the motion controls optional, though players can still use them if they so desire.

This way, those that enjoyed The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's motion control sword fighting can still enjoy it in the Switch version, but they can also utilize more traditional controller inputs instead. When playing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD with motion controls turned off or on a Nintendo Switch Lite, sword fighting is handled with the right stick. It remains to be seen how effective this method of play is, but fans will find out when the game launches this summer.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches July 16, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
