Blizzard reveals the PC spec for the upcoming Diablo 2 Resurrected, a remaster of the original, which was announced at this year's BlizzCon.

With BlizzCon 2021 having just wrapped up, a lot of exciting new titles are now the talk of the gaming community. But perhaps one of the biggest announcements this year was the unveiling of Diablo 2 Resurrected, a remake of the original 2000 PC classic hack-and-slash game. One thing that many have probably been waiting for is what system they'll need to run it, and now it appears as though Blizzard have revealed the PC requirements.

While Diablo 2 Resurrected is a remaster of a twenty-year-old game, it will still require a modern system to run, but lower spec PCs should still be able to cope with this more up-to-date iteration, given the minimum requirements, according to Blizzard. The system requirements are as follows:

Minimum requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-3250 or AMD FX-4350
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 / AMD Radeon HD 7850
  • Hard Drive Space: 30GB

Recommended requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 16GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT
  • Hard Drive Space: 30GB

According to the specs, even PC users with older systems should still be able to comfortably run Resurrected based on the minimum requirements. The remaster has been given a graphical boost to bring it into the modern age, but it's not as if people are going to need an Nvidia RTX 3080Ti or anything that recent (not that gamers can get hold of the new RTX cards at the moment, any way).

The Diablo 2 remaster will also enable resolutions up to 4K for any graphical purists that are looking for that extra crisp fidelity. On top of that, Resurrected will also come with a classic mode which will revert the graphics back down to the 2D sprite look of the original. Some of the biggest changes made to Resurrected include the way multiplayer works in-game, such as how PvP will function, as well as improvements to the lobby which will include anti-cheat technology. They are also reportedly making it so players can share items between characters, and the ability to pick up gold automatically.

The original Diablo 2 was a triumph of PC gaming when it was first released. It was even awarded a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the fastest selling PC game at the time. The Resurrected remaster is not only an opportunity to bring it into the modern era for fans who enjoyed it the first time round, but could also bring in a new breed of players to this much-beloved game.

Diablo 2: Resurrected launches later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
