The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD sits atop the Amazon world. Less than a week after Skyward Sword HD was confirmed for the Switch during the Nintendo Direct earlier this week, it is the top-selling game on Amazon US's best selling chart.
Although The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is an exciting game for some, there were a bevy of games seemingly missing from the Nintendo Direct; specifically from the Zelda franchise. Many expected to see an update from the sequel to Breath of the Wild while others genuinely hoped that The HD remakes of both The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, former Wii U games, would also be announced for the Switch. But according to Amazon sales chart info, fans were much more interested in The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD after all.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD currently ranks number one on Amazon USA and number five in Amazon UK. Of course, this is based on pre-orders for the game, as the full-release will not be ready until July. Other relevant Nintendo games on the list include Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.
What is very interesting about Nintendo and any borderline controversial decision-making is that it often works out in the company's favor. While Zelda fans left the massive 50-minute Nintendo Direct looking for more and even being bummed that Skyward Sword would be sold for $60 USD, the result for The Big N is that Zelda is atop the Amazon charts. Likewise, while some fans were confused as to why a game like Super Mario 3D All-Stars would only be on sale for a certain period of time until March 31, the game broke digital sales Switch records. For better or worse, Nintendo seems to know what it is doing.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches July 16, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
