The success of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury continues as the Switch port with bonus content tops the UK charts for its second week.

The success of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury continues. Nintendo's plumber mascot returned to the Nintendo Switch last week, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury launched at number one in the UK in terms of physical sales. Mario and his pals keep hopping along, as the game has topped the sales charts for a second week in a row in the UK.

Reviews of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury for the Switch have been very positive, and thus many fans have continued to swoop in and pick up the platformer. Although much of the game is a port of the Wii U version, there are a few hours of brand-new content with Bowser's Fury. Additionally, the Wii U did not sell anywhere near as well as the Switch, so there are plenty of gamers who never had the chance to enjoy this Mario platformer. It perhaps should not be at all a surprise to see that the game is again atop the UK charts.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury dropped 61 percent when compared to its sales from last week, according to GamesIndustry.biz. That is to be expected, however, as launch week is nearly always the best week for a first-party game like this. The game still managed to be number one, however, fending off second-place title FIFA 21 in the process.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was at number three, which is more remarkable. The title is also a Wii U game that was brought back for the Switch and remains atop charts regularly. In fact, it is the best-selling Nintendo Switch game to date. The number four game, Animal Crossing: New Horizon, is right on the heels of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in both this week's list and the all-time Nintendo Switch sales list. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is number five on the UK chart this week, part of the $three billion in net bookings that Call of Duty brought in over a 12-month span last year.

The rest of the list includes Minecraft (Switch), Grand Theft Auto 5, Ring Fit Adventure, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Just Dance 2021. There are now quite a few Mario games on the Nintendo Switch. From the likes of Super Mario Odyssey to Super Mario Party and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, there are many different options. With Mario Golf: Super Rush being added to the list in the near future, there is seemingly never enough Mario to go around.
