In the wake of its 6th year Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege collaborates with Resident Evil for brand-new in game content coming within the next year.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege released over 5 years ago and quickly rose to the top to become one of the world’s favorite tactical shooters. Now the critically appraised game is receiving a crossover with Capcom property, Resident Evil.

In Rainbow Six Siege players take control of an operator and engage in first person shooter style combat. These operators are used as avatars for players to either attack or defend in multiple game modes. The game includes several operators by default. Users can also purchase alternative operators using an in-game currency called Rainbow Credits with each character costing anywhere from 100-1,200 credits. 1,200 rainbow credits are approximately equivalent to $10 USD.

In an announcement earlier today, Ubisoft shared its plan for year six of Rainbow Six Siege with a reveal of a collaboration with Capcom's horror franchise, Resident Evil. The partnership comes in the form of a brand-new outfit for White Noise operator Zofia, who takes on the image of Jill Valentine. Jill Valentine is a special operations agent in Resident Evil and a key character in the game. Fans can get a look at the upcoming skin through a short teaser from an official tweet from the Rainbow Six team. The stream also hinted at a possible additional collaboration with the fan favorite show Rick and Morty after Ubisoft used a green portal as a transition similar to what the show does.

This is not the first time Rainbow Six Siege has collaborated with other companies. Back in February last year the game introduced a Lara Croft skin for their existing operator Ash. Square Enix, the publishers of Tomb Raider, and Ubisoft have a rich history of collaborations. However, the same cannot be said for Resident Evil owner’s Capcom. Capcom and Ubisoft entered into a publishing agreement in 2006 to bring Capcom titles to PC. However, little has been heard about a collaboration between the two companies since.

Fans of both series are likely to be overjoyed by the announcement. The collaboration is appropriate as both games are shooters. This new skin could encourage players of Resident Evil to take up Rainbow Six Siege, and vice versa. It's possible that some fans are sure not to be interested in the collaboration including those who are not fans of Resident Evil may not care for the announcement. However, the roadmap for the sixth year of Rainbow Six Siege looks to have enough exciting content to keep fans coming back for more.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
