Caviar is needed to complete the Missing Bundle in Stardew Valley, but it can be quite difficult to craft because it requires a certain fish.

Caviar is a rare artisan food item in Stardew Valley. It's one of the most difficult items to craft in the game and to make it, a number of steps need to be taken first, though it's only made from one ingredient in Stardew Valley.

Not only does caviar sell for more gold than most other preserved food items in Stardew Valley, it also appears in the secret Missing Bundle at JojaMart. The Missing Bundle was introduced during the 1.4 update to Stardew Valley and it appears after players have finished the Community Center, and have driven JojaMart's employees out of town. As additional late-game content, the Missing Bundle is much more difficult to complete than any other Bundle. Together, it calls for silver quality wine (or better) which requires the cellar house upgrade, dinosaur mayonnaise, a prismatic shard, 5 gold quality ancient fruit, gold quality salmon, and finally, caviar.

Caviar is certainly not the most difficult item on the list to obtain, but players will first need to start by catching a sturgeon. It's a rarer fish in Stardew Valley that can only be caught in the mountain lake during the summer and winter seasons. It is most common on rainy summer days, but still only has a maximum 16% chance of being caught. It's also on the harder side to catch, so make sure to bring special tackle and some bait when fishing for sturgeon.

Then, players will need to have an empty fish pond on their Stardew Valley farms to house the sturgeon. Fish ponds are a type of farm building that can be purchased from Robin and allows fish to produced roe. However, sturgeon produce a special kind of roe, sturgeon roe, that is needed to make caviar. After putting the surgeon in an empty fish pond, let it hang out for a few days until it produces some sturgeon roe.

Then, throw the roe into a preserves jar and wait 6,000 in-game minutes, or a few days, before it turns into caviar. Alternatively, players can always check the traveling cart south of their farm. Caviar has a small chance to appear in her stock for anywhere between 1,500 and 2,500 gold in Stardew Valley and would let the player forgo the above tedious steps.

Unfortunately, no villagers in Stardew Valley love caviar as a gift. Most villagers simply like the item, but Jas, Sebastian, and Vincent hate it. It's also not used in any quests outside of the Missing Bundle at JojaMart, but caviar can be used to craft the Fashion Hat at Emily's sewing machine.

Stardew Valley is available now for Linux, Mac, Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One.
