Tiamat joins SMITE’s cast today as the latest deity with abilities reflecting the destructive duality of the Goddess of the Salt Sea.

The Mother of Monsters, Tiamat, enters the SMITE battlegrounds today, offering players the opportunity to wield the creation god’s versatile abilities. Tiamat brings a host of damaging abilities with her kit that allows her to effectively engage other SMITE gods at both short and long-range engagements.

The Goddess of the Salt Sea, Tiamat is the latest stance-switching god to join SMITE’s roster. Similar to stance characters like King Arthur, Tiamat’s abilities change based on her current stance. To reflect her conflicted personality, the goddess can shift between a melee-focused Ground stance and a magical, long-range Flying stance. The ability to summon additional creatures, mitigate damage at close-range, and fire fearsome spells from a distance make Tiamat a multifaceted threat in nearly every lane.

According to the design team, Tiamat is a flexible Mage god who has a strong Mid-lane game with the potential to flex into a Solo or Jungle role. Further enhancing her Jungle abilities, the creation goddess is able to duplicate jungle buffs. This allows Tiamat to gain a buff while leaving behind an additional buff for a teammate to utilize.

Tiamat is the first Babylonian god to join the roster, so the development team at Titan Forge Games “wanted to go above and beyond” in the character’s design, according to a press release. As the creation goddess from which the world as we know it was formed, her design reflects the elegance of the mighty deity and her animalistic power.

The Babylonian goddess made an appearance in a recent cinematic trailer, where she banished the infamous H.P. Lovecraft creation, Cthulu, and reshaped SMITE’s Conquest map in the process. Players now have the chance to watch these rival gods clash as they battle for control over the map.

SMITE is free-to-play on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
