Nintendo fans from all over the world are sharing their love for a Nintendo character that was introduced in Super Mario Galaxy named Rosalina.

The Super Mario series is known for mostly keeping the same cast of characters in the main storyline. Mario saves Princess Peach from Bowser --end of story. It's not likely for a new character to get introduced into the franchise, but when Super Mario Galaxy first released on the Nintendo Wii over a decade ago, Rosalina was brought into the lore as the protector of the cosmos and the mother to all of the Lumas.

And today, for some random reason, Rosalina was trending on Twitter, which led to fans sharing their love and admiration for the starry character by posting their favorite screenshots of Rosalina, videos, gifs, and even incredible fan artwork. This first tweet below from DynamosuperX on Twitter shows off a couple of pictures of Rosalina from various Mario games, such as Mario Kart Tour and the original Mario Galaxy game. Along with the photos, the Rosalina fan said "my cosmic queen Rosalina is trending, as she should. I luv her so much."

Instead of showing appreciation by simply posting pics of Rosalina, one fan went out of their way to remind folks on Twitter that if they think of Rosalina as just a Peach clone, that they're wrong because Peach also uses design elements from Pauline's old design.

Another fan posted four pieces of some neat Rosalina fanart that portray the galaxy princess in four unique art styles, with one showing the princess in a more laid-back attire with a comfy blue hoodie.

Another big-time Rosalina fan even showed off their custom dress design in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that's modeled after the dress of Rosalina's in the Super Mario games. They even have a crown and a star wand to really make the outfit look as identical as it can to the real thing.

And some more fanart for good measure:

While there's no specific reason for Rosalina to be trending currently, it just so happens that she is a playable character in the recently released Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury for the Switch. While she's not one of the main four playable characters at the start, players can unlock the Rosalina by beating the entirety of the main game and then going into the more challenging post-game worlds. Rosalina has the ability to perform a smaller, second jump and she can attack enemies without the need for a traditional power-up item.

And now that Rosalina has been featured in several different sub-franchises, like Mario Kart Tour, Mario Kart 8, and even Super Smash Bros., there's no denying that the princess has gathered a rather large dedicated fanbase. It'll be interesting to see if she makes it into the next mainline 3D Mario game, whenever that comes out.
