There is a lot going on in the world of Hunt: Showdown. Right off the heels of celebrating the three-year anniversary of Hunt: Showdown, Crytek has just released Update 1.5 for the game on its test servers for PC, and it is quite the content-heavy update.
Crytek has been teasing custom ammo for Hunt: Showdown for weeks, and even before that the feature has been a part of the roadmap for quite some time. Putting the game-altering addition into the test server will allow Crytek to read the data, listen to feedback, and tweak everything accordingly, which hopefully will allow the game to still have the same authenticity; just with a new feel.

There are seventeen different types of ammo; Choke Bolt, Chaos Bolt, Poison Bolt, Shotbolt, Explosive Bolt, Penny Shot, Starshell, Slug, Dragonbreath, Flechette, Explosive, Spitzer, High Velocity, Full Metal Jacket, Dumdum, Incendiary, and Poison. Each type can be used on a different kind of weapon (shotgun, rifle, etc), will cost diverse amounts when building out a loadout, and will have various pros and cons. For example, the Poison Ammo releases a toxic agent on impact that can be fatal at high dosages, but at the cost of stopping power and penetration.
The update also addresses gameplay improvements to the Decoys and the Concertina items, making them more viable. The UI also sees improvements in the update, which should result in a cleaner experience. There are also updates to how heavy doors play out in-game, ladders, and general stability fixes.
Additionally, the teased new weapons have been added to Hunt: Showdown in the form of a lever-action hunting rifle Winfield 1876 Centennial and lever-action Winfield 1887 Terminus shotgun, along with its smaller variant, the Winfield 1887 Terminus Handcannon. Fans of Hunt: Showdown will also want to know that the new boss was also hinted at again, and it is apparently still coming--or at least news of it--in less than thirty days.
Hunt: Showdown is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
