Destiny 2 is making some bold changes to the way it handles character power in Season 14, as this time the max power cap will only increase by 10 points. Bungie recently revealed a lot of information about the upcoming Season 14, and even though fans still don't know what its name will be, all of this new information is keeping fans busy for the time being. Out of everything that was shared, one of the most peculiar decisions is how Bungie is now going to handle power increases with each new season. Essentially, the amount of maximum power players can earn in a new season will be dependent on whether or not that season is accompanied by an expansion.
For those that don't know, Destiny 2 Season 13, also known as Season of the Chosen, launched earlier this February. Like every season before it, it brought loads of new content to the game, including a new power cap. Most seasons raise the power cap by 50, but players have had somewhat mixed feelings about this. While it works well to create more content, it can feel a bit overly grindy for some.

In a recent post from Bungie, the Destiny Dev Team explains that all non-expansion seasons will now only raise the power cap by 10. The main reason for doing this seems to be to make sure that players don't feel like their power has reset with each season. Now, players that reached the power cap of the previous season will be able to do so again by jumping straight into the "10-point Pinnacle band of the Power pursuit."
Continuing on, Bungie also states that it hopes this new approach will make jumping into a new season of Destiny 2 a lot easier, as there will be less ground to cover each time. The primary reason these changes are being made is to prepare Destiny 2 for The Witch Queen, its upcoming expansion. Because the power level cap changes only apply to non-expansion seasons, Bungie will still be able to make The Witch Queen feel like a huge power boost in the same way that previous expansions did.
Aside from this, Destiny 2 fans also received a ton of exciting news. It is now confirmed that the Vault of Glass raid is returning in Season 14, and players will even be able to make use of a new, highly requested transmog system called Synthesis. Looking even further beyond, Season 15 is set to change how the Crucible works, including addressing the infamous "three-peaking" issue.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
