Assassin's Creed Valhalla players have eleven powerful legendary animals they can track down and defeat in combat in various locations.

As players make their way through the story of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, they will be met with several different types of events and side missions. Several of these are given by NPCs while others are simply encountered out in the wilderness. One of these side events that Eivor can tick off is hunting down all of the legendary animals in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and defeating them.

Once players complete the main story and have time to openly roam the world, hunting down legendary animals—as well as assassinating Order of the Ancients members—is something that can be done in one go or piece by piece. One of these legendary beasts is locked until a certain quest is completed, but for the most part players can go after this list whenever they need a break from other tasks. There are currently eleven legendary animals that have been discovered in the game, and several of them are some of the toughest fights that Eivor will encounter.

This first animal is likely the easiest to encounter and defeat. The elk is located in the starting area Rygjafylke. Eivor must head to the southern mountains and look near a waterfall for this first encounter. It shouldn't take too much strategy to defeat this beast, but players should never be too confident with these animals.

This bear is a giant polar bear with swords sticking out of its back. Players can find this encounter in the center of Hordafylke in Norway. This fight takes place on ice caps and is one of the more difficult animal encounters in the game--if the many broken weapons in its back didn't give that away already. Plenty of rations and patience will be necessary for Eivor to defeat this bear.

This second animal is a powerful wolf and is located in the southeastern corner of East Anglia. If the player has the ability to summon a wolf companion for Eivor, then this fight should be fairly simple. Otherwise, players can just dodge and strike like normal and take this creature down. This is one of only a few legendary animals that are encountered on their own, so hopefully this lone wolf doesn't pose too much of a challenge for the player.

This encounter is actually made of three different wolves with separate health bars. Players can find this wolf pack in Oxenefordscire, northeast of Buckingham. Eivor has many weapon types that can help with this fight, but ranged attacks work best here since these wolves will try to grab Eivor and gnaw away. One of the tricks with any battle against multiple enemies to make sure to never lose sight of one of them, else they will attack the player when least expected.

Here is another wolf, but this one starts off on its own. The Gemad Wolf is located south of Grimsby in an arena. During the fight, this wolf will howl and summon reinforcements to aid it. Clever players can use the additional enemies as fodder to charge up Eivor's strongest skills and then unleash them on the big guy himself. Since the Gemad Wolf is the main target, the allies could also just be ignored entirely if the player can successfully dodge all of their attacks.

This sow is actually a bull and, not unlike many of the other legendary animals, this beast has allies. The Battle-Sow can be found raging around the around southwest of Croindene in Suthesexe near Tuicca’s Farm. This fight should go similarly to the Gemad Wolf in that the smaller creatures can help Eivor charge up attacks to take down the Battle-Sow.

This beast is a bear and is found in the center of Sciropescire. He is located underground to the east of The Wrocken. This fight is located indoors, but there are no allies to back this bear up. Players can take their time and dodge well in order to ensure a victory of this creature. As with any of these fights, player should stock up on plenty of rations before taking on this legendary animal.

These two lynxes are located at the highest point in Hamtunscire, not too far from a Fly Agaric mushroom challenge. Dodging is crucial here and players must be careful to not lose visual on one of these crafty cats as they focus on the other. As long as the player is patient and doesn’t rush into any attacks, this fight shouldn’t be terribly challenging.

The Blood Swine is located in Eurviscire, across the river from Snotingham and to the western edge of Fiscarton. The Blood Swine can run away and charge the player for a mighty damage. This fight is similar to the Wildcats in that the player must make sure they know where the swine is at all times, especially when it begins to charge Eivor. This fight takes more attention that many of the others, but it can be completed just as easily with the right strategy.

This powerful moose can be found in Vinland, north of Tionontate: Ken. Players must first finish the Lunden arc and then speak to Hytham. Players will have none of their usual items when arriving at Vinland, so they must purchase whatever supplies they will need to use during this charging moose battle. The club is particularly recommended for this fight as it can hit hard and take down the beast in no time. Players just need to avoid its charge and watch out for a spinning kick attack.

This final legendary animal can only be located once players have completed the Asgard storyline. This bear is armored in ice and is the strongest beast in the entire game. This battle takes place south of the serpents tree point, east of Utgard. Since this legendary beast is covered in ice armor, fire weapons and plenty of rations are a necessity in order to take it down. If this fight wasn't saved for last, players can breathe a sigh of relief that the hardest is already over as they work through the other animals.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
