MLB The Show 21 is just a couple of months away, and many fans of the baseball franchise are excited about this year's version. After years of waiting, MLB The Show is finally coming to Xbox consoles. This is not just exciting for players of the game, but also the developers.
PlayStation and San Diego Studio put together a "welcome to MLB the Show" video for Xbox gamers. Starring Fernando Tatis Jr as a puppet and his puppet coach, which has been the style for MLB the Show 21 trailers, the video celebrates the game coming to the Xbox, along with some of the features that are in the game.

One of the biggest features of the game, and something that the video highlights, is the fact that cross-play and cross-progression is coming to MLB The Show 21 between PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Cross-play is something that has become more prevalent in games over the past few years, and is always a welcome sight.
Cross-play will be great for MLB The Show. Not only will the feature bring players together from different platforms, but it will also allow for healthy and fun competition. In fact, the video in which MLB welcomes Xbox gamers starts with the phrase "stunt on your rivals with style." That wording could have to do with cross-play, and it also could have to do with Fernando Tatis Jr's style while playing baseball. He is known for flipping bats and hitting grand slams when up seven points in the eighth inning. It will be very interesting to see Xbox and PlayStation players going at it on the virtual diamond.
The Xbox celebration video does not dive deep into many other features, but there is a lot to look forward to. Players were just able to get a look at post-season play in MLB The Show 21, for example, and players will finally be able to use their created ballplayers outside of Road to the Show, something fans have asked about for quite some time.
But there is little doubt that the most asked-for request has always been that MLB rights come to the Xbox. While the exclusivity is not as tight as the NFL and simulation games, a true simulation MLB experience has not been on the Xbox in quite some time. MLB The Show being on Xbox consoles is something that many players have been asking for and are now finally rejoicing about.
MLB The Show 21 will release April 20 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
