The Rakna-Kadaki is a temnoceran class monster in Monster Hunter Rise and Capcom gives a first look at its armor for hunters and buddies.

Rakna-Kadki was one of the more mysterious monsters in Monster Hunter Rise, at least when the game was first announced. Players saw a temnoceran class monster briefly shown in the game's first announcement trailer. Many assumed that monster was Nerscylla returning, but fans eventually noticed that Nerscylla looked very different from the monster shown in the Monster Hunter Rise trailer.

Eventually, the Monster Hunter Rise demo dropped and players took note of the gear that the charge blade user was wearing. Both the weapon and the armor clearly had designs on them that seemed web-like. Many immediately attributed this gear to the still yet unnamed monster.

Finally, during Nintendo's recent direct, the name of the monster was finally revealed: Rakna-Kadaki. It was shown off in the new Lava Caverns area and showed an ability to breathe fire. Now Capcom has officially shown off more of its gear besides the female armor and the charge blade.

The male and female armor use similar motifs with the webbing and purple plating. The male armor also has a rose on the chest piece, while the female armor has multiple roses on the waist piece and the headpiece. The female armor definitely has a little more of a bridal motif than the male's.

Interestingly, there doesn't seem to really be any callbacks to Rakna-Kadki's residence in the fiery region or its ability to breathe fire. That isn't entirely surprising as it wouldn't be the first armor set to run with a unique motif that doesn't completely adhere to the monster's abilities. The final boss of Iceborne's main campaign's armor comes to mind as being very thematic but largely unrelated from that monster's abilities.

Also worth noting of course is the Palamute and Palico armor. While the Palamute's armor is probably what most would expect with it being covered in webs, the Palico armor is a bit of a surprise as its dressed like a priest. Perhaps this is a call back to the bridal aspect of the female armor.

Monster Hunter Rise will release on Switch on March 26, 2021 and PC in 2022.
