Following its work on the LittleBigPlanet series, Media Molecule got to work on its most ambitious project to date, eventually releasing a community-focused game creation platform known as Dreams. The project had its first birthday last month and it seems the studio is taking the time to celebrate the momentous occasion.
Posted via the PlayStation YouTube account, the team has created a trailer that runs through some of Dreams' biggest community highlights of the year. It's definitely an eye-opening promo that proves what a dedicated and passionate community has assembled around Media Molecule's most recent release, with players creating everything from games and animations to music videos and memes.

The showcase comes loaded with plenty of impressive feats, including Dreams' initial Valentine's Day launch and a convention Media Molecule held to display players' creations back in June. It also briefly looks back at the community jams the studio has set up over the months, which tasked users with creating content based on an allocated theme. It even references Noah Cyrus's song "July" getting an official music video made in Dreams, which was created in a collaboration between the game and the musician.
The rest of the video documents some of the most inventive content to grace the platform during its first year, including creepy games to celebrate Halloween, an experience focused around cleaning Kiwi beaches, and what looks to be a shockingly authentic recreation of PlayStation sci-fi racer WipEout. It's all wrapped up with a message wishing for an equally exciting second year, which after witnessing the montage of year 1, isn't hard to believe.
Dreams originally launched on February 14, 2020, and has since brought with it some crazy creations. From an avid Kingdom Hearts fan making a Shrek world on the platform to a user recreating Disney's Haunted Mansion attraction in VR, its playerbase has definitely not lacked creativity. With more community jams and other events to come in the future, 2021 is sure to be another wild year for frequent Dreams visitors.
Of course, Media Molecule originally kickstarted its career working on LittleBigPlanet, with the franchise recently seeing a revival in the form of Sumo Digital's Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The spin-off title saw the studio's former mascot, Sackboy, return to the gaming world through a more traditional platformer, ditching the original game's level-creator focus. It debuted alongside the PlayStation 5 back in November and has since gone onto garner a great reception from fans and critics alike.
Dreams is out now on PlayStation 4.
