Star Wars Jedi: Fallen order players notice a cool detail in the skill tree that indicates how far Cal Kestis needs to go before mastering the force.

It’s hard to classify Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as anything other than a success. With over 10 million copies sold worldwide, it is more than popular enough for Disney and EA to consider a sequel.

Some fans have done more than wonder about a potential sequel, scouring Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for signs of where the franchise may be heading. One such fan recently noticed a small detail that may indicate the protagonist’s journey is far from over.

Fallen Order depicts its skill tree as a vast cosmic plane representing protagonist Cal Kestis’ growing mastery of the force. However, the actual skill tree itself is only a small part of the sprawling network stretching to the horizon. While this could be a purely artistic choice, its meaning may be much more significant. Reddit users on the GamingDetails subreddit think it symbolizes how much Cal has to learn before being called a Jedi Master.

Reddit user AcadianHunter was the first to suggest this when they posted the above screenshot. The theory makes a lot of sense when one looks at Cal’s abilities. Fallen Order’s force skills mostly consist of variations of telekinesis. And while lifting and throwing is a Jedi’s bread and butter, it’s nothing that a talented novice couldn’t figure out. This next part is a massive spoiler, but fans should also look at how Cal fares in his battle against Darth Vader. As one commenter points out, Vader does not even have a health bar. He is so far beyond Cal the latter can’t even hurt him.

For many fans, this is a refreshing change of pace. Star Wars games are sometimes accused of going too far with the power fantasy angle, always needing a more powerful Jedi than last time. Star Killer from the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games comes to mind, with some commenters joking he’s what the giant skill nodes in the distance represent.

More than that, it shows how much Cal Kestis still has to learn. Some fans see this as proof that his journey is far from over. There are already rumors that developer Respawn Entertainment is working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2. To some, the design of the skill tree indicates this was always the developer’s plan. The sequel may even feature a similar-looking tree expanding beyond what is available in Fallen Order.

That may be wishful thinking, however. Still, a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order is not an impossibility. Considering the success of the first game and “the adventure continues” style ending, it would arguably be stranger if a Fallen Order 2 didn’t happen.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
