As fans await the 9th and final episode of WandaVision, there is still plenty of time for last-minute speculation and debate over what's going to happen and what it will all mean for the future of the MCU. Between the revelations of Wanda's own backstory in the latest episode and the reveal of the actual main villain, there's certainly a lot to discuss. Some fans, however, think the final surprise may be bigger than anyone could have expected.

Let's inject some spoiler-ridden context for those who aren't caught up: the latest episode of WandaVision saw the reveal that Agnes, Wanda's ever-helpful companion, is actually Agatha Harkness, a witch who wants to know the secret to Wanda's power. In order to discover how she created the bubble, Agatha walks Wanda through her own past, hoping to find the events that led to the creation of her sitcom fantasy life.

Initially, Agatha and Wanda's journey takes viewers to previously discussed yet seldom seen moments in the grief-stricken Avengers' life that shaped her trauma. Eventually, they reach the moment where Wanda sees Vision's dead body, but instead of stealing it as the audience had been lead to believe, Wanda leaves peacefully. She then visits a plot of land where she and Vision had hoped to build a house and creates the reality shaping bubble in her grief. Agatha then dubs her "The Scarlet Witch" and the episode ends.

That is, until the mid-credits, where it is revealed that SWORD has managed to reactivate Vision, but something is different: A pale new version of Vision, bathed in blue light, raises up his left-hand to inspect it before the final cut to credits. So Vision is alive! Or maybe not. Some fans doubt that everything is at it seems. In fact, some recent Reddit posts suggest that the new Vision may not be Vision at all, or at least, not entirely.

Some fans have pointed out that this new version of Vision has some eerie similarities to a previous Marvel villain: Ultron. That may seem like a stretch, but the parallels are undeniable: Ultron's signature color as an AI was blue, the same type that appears to cover this new model of Vision, and the last version of Ultron had lost his left arm, the same arm that White Vision inspects with a strange reverence. Not only that, but Ultron is an AI capable of spreading himself through the web to persevere, and the device used to recreate Vision was originally intended to make a new body for Ultron.

Not to mention that Ultron himself has a pretty key role in Wanda's past, being the main antagonist of Avengers: Age of Ultron, where she was introduced and in which Ultron killed her brother Pietro. It's not exactly an ironclad theory, but there are certainly enough pieces in place to give one pause for thought. One way or the other, fans will know for sure when the final episode of WandaVision hits Disney Plus later this week.
