Hi-Rez's free to play class-based team shooter Paladins reveals its latest, 48th addition to the game's roster: Octavia The Indomitable.

Keeping the momentum with February 3rd's release of the tank class front-liner Yagorath, nearly a month later Paladins announces another new hero, bringing the already extensive character roster to 48. Complete with a stylish reveal trailer, Octavia The Indomitable aims to bring additional long-range combat options to Paladins through her kit revolving around a scoped rifle type weapon.

This update comes in the wake of a series of announcements by Hi-Rez promoting several title updates planned for Smite, Rogue Company, and Paladins, each having a plethora of new content to look forward to in the coming year. Considering the title's initial release happening as recently as 2016, the steady stream of additional content and support for one of Overwatch's most direct competition bodes well for the health and longevity of Hi-Rez's surprisingly unique shooter.

Octavia herself, as gleaned by the reveal trailer, will feasibly fulfil an additional sniper-type role to the game's playable roster as well as offer a different degree of support from existing accuracy intensive heroes. Featuring Yagorath in the trailer suggests further lore-building that can always serve as the basis for new and interesting avenues for future characters, events, and possibly game modes, especially given the theme of the game's current season and accompanying battle pass: Calamity.

With several new additions coming to the Hi-Rez family of free-to-play titles, it would be easy to worry that some projects may be strained thinner than others, considering the solid first impressions being made with Rogue Company's season one. Fortunately, the reliability of updates across each title indicates their respective teams giving each game the attention they deserve.

Paladins is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
