It will likely still be a while before a new cinematic Wolverine is introduced in MCU, but that hasn't stopped fans from pitching their favorite casting ideas. Now some fans have grown so passionate about a particular choice that they have started an online petition to cast Letterkenny's Jared Keeso in the role.
Over at Change.org, the petition was created by a fan named Christopher Atkinson with the title "Disney needs to cast Jared Keeso as Wolverine should they reboot X-Men," which is currently close to its goal of 5,000 signatures. The petition suggests Keeso's role in Letterkenny is a perfect example of why the actor would be the ideal choice for the role of the iconic mutant anti-hero Wolverine when he is inevitably brought into the MCU.

Keeso is not only the star but also the creator of Letterkenny, a small Canadian comedy about the lives of the colorful characters living in the fictitious rural town of Letterkenny. Keeso play Wayne, the town tough guy who is known for his quick-witted insults and his down-to-earth persona. The show recently concluded its ninth season as it continues to grow in popularity and Keeso's performance continues to get singled out as a highlight of the show.
An online petition doesn't seem like an overly effective casting strategy, but in the age of Zack Snyder's Justice League, fan input seems to have a bigger input than ever before. Despite Marvel now owning the rights to the X-Men once again, there has been little movement on bringing mutants into the MCU. However, with WandaVision hinting at their existence and the MCU continuing to grow, it feels like only a matter of time before those fan-favorite characters are brought into the fold.
Given the iconic performance Hugh Jackman delivered as Wolverine in the Fox X-Men movies, this will be one of the most difficult roles to recast in the MCU. That being said, Keeso is a pretty interesting choice and Letterkenny is a good indication of what he might bring to the role. He has that tough-guy attitude but could also bring a dry sense of humor to the part. He also has that hard exterior persona which fits nicely as Wolverine is not a guy known for his friendliness. It would also be nice to see a Canadian actor take the part as it would be faithful to Wolverine's comic book origins. While it seems unlikely Marvel will pay too much attention to the petition itself, it is not a bad bit of fan-casting.
