Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is offering some special power-ups to players who happen to own a couple of other Nintendo Switch games. A couple of new spirits have been spotted in the game, as a bit of a perk for those who own either Persona 5 Strikers or Ghosts n' Goblins Resurrection, or both.
The Nintendo Switch exclusive game has already had a big week of news. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate added two new fighters in Pyra and Mythra and you can already juice up their powers with the brand new spirits. Users can buy the two new fighters on their own for $5.99 or they can get them as part of the game's $29.99 second Fighter Pass. The two new spirits are technically free and unlockable.

The official Twitter account for Nintendo announced the ability of players to get the spirits. The first one that was divulged was the unlockable version of Sophia from Persona 5 Strikers. Not long after, the account also revealed that Arthur from the new Ghosts n' Goblins game is available as a power-up as well. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will read a player's save data on the Nintendo Switch when someone fires up the fighting game.
If there's save data from either game present, those characters will be made available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Both of these spirits showed up in the game as a special surprise. Nintendo didn't announce either character showing up in the game before they popped up.
Those who don't own either Persona 5 Strikers or Ghosts n' Goblins Resurrection aren't left out entirely in the cold. Nintendo announced on the official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate web page that the two spirits will also be unlocked for everyone in the near future. These additions are simply a bonus for those who purchased those games. However, at the moment there is no official date for when Sophia and Arthur will be available for everyone.
It's also important to note that these spirits don't necessarily hint at either character becoming fighters in the game at some point. Nintendo tends to keep that kind of information under its hat. There's also very little rhyme or reason for who will be included at any one time. However, there is a way to get a sneak peek at who is coming next if players can get access to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai's office. During the reveal of Pyra and Mythra, Sakurai revealed he keeps figurines of future characters in a cabinet in his office.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
