As a franchise, Mortal Kombat has produced many games and movies. The newest film trailer features easter eggs, imagery fans of the series notice.

The new trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie is finally upon us. Thankfully, the trailer itself looked fantastic. It felt both unique and faithful at the same time. It featured scenes featuring many fan-favorite characters that looked so incredible that it will surely hype up long-time fans of the game.

Without a doubt, those long-time fans kept their eyes peeled while watching this trailer for hidden details and nods to the long-running fighting game series. Although the trailer was only less than three minutes long, it managed to show enough interesting things and details major fans have surely spotted in glee.

10 Jax's Arm

The very first scene in the trailer shows Jax on a mission to capture a "wanted fugitive." This fugitive turns out to be Sub-Zero himself. Poor old Jax goes face-to-face with the cold-blooded assassin, and before he gets the chance to shoot him, Sub-Zero freezes his weapon, then freezes his arms and rips them off his body.

In this universe, this is how Jax loses his arm. However, in other iterations, Jax has lost his arms in various other ways. In one version, he willingly had his arms removed so they could be replaced with cybernetics. In another, his arms were ripped off by Ermac. In the animated show, his arms were ripped off by Goro.

9 Warner Brothers And New Line Cinema Logos

The logos of the two companies behind the film already indicate what the story of the film is going to be. During the first few seconds of the trailer, the logos for Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema appear on-screen. The WB logo appears with a yellow overlay, with a scorching fire burning below, and the New Line Cinema logo appears frozen.

This mirrors Scorpion and Sub-Zero. This movie will focus on the conflict between both characters and their long-running feud, which literally goes beyond life and death.

8 The Man In The Painting

Once the trailer reaches around the 0:40 to 0:50 second mark, a painting of a man standing tall behind a fallen, bleeding warrior is shown. This painting seems to exhibit one of the tournaments that happened a long time ago. The man looming large in this painting is the Great Kung Lao.

The Great Kung Lao was the first person on Earthrealm to join the Mortal Kombat. He ended up winning his first tournament, defeating the reigning champion, Shang Tsung. Before he was defeated, Shang Tsung had won the nine prior tournaments consecutively.

7 Shang Tsung Vs. Raiden

Right after the scene showing the painting of the Great Kung Lao, a scene of Shang Tsung face-to-face against Raiden is shown in an area that looks like it's been left frozen, most probably by Sub-Zero.

What's even more interesting is that the scene with Shang Tsung and Raiden looks like it's been taken right out of a Mortal Kombat game, where two characters would face off against each other before battling it out.

6 Cole's Vision Of Scorpion

In one scene, Cole Young, a series newcomer and an original character for this movie, is shown washing his face in front of a mirror. In one terrifying glimpse, he sees a vision of a mask-less Scorpion.

This vision could be a hint of Cole Young's character and how he may be related to Scorpion. In one instance, Cole is shown wearing a yellow glove, a color associated with Scorpion in this universe. Since the trailer's release, many have speculated that Cole Young may be a descendent of Hanzo Hasashi, later known as Scorpion.

5 Pre-Scorpion

One of the most awesome scenes in the trailer shows Hanzo Hasashi, played by the incredible Hiroyuki Sanada, protecting his home from a band of enemies. This version of the character is his identity before he became Scorpion. Long-time fans of the series know of Scorpion's identity before he became the iconic ninja everyone knows and loves today.

Hanzo, along with his clan and family, was exterminated. As an aftermath, he becomes resurrected as a ninja known as Scorpion.

4 Earthrealm's Champions And The Tournament

About halfway through the trailer, it is finally revealed who the Earth's champions are going to be in this game's Mortal Kombat tournament: Sonya, Kano, Liu Kang, Jax, Kung Lao, and Raiden. Of course, they are also joined by the newcomer Cole Young.

The tournament isn't just done for the sake of honor and glory, but for conquest. The rules of Mortal Kombat states that if a realm is able to win consecutive tournaments against the opposing realm, then they earn the right to conquer that realm. Thus far, only Shao Khan has been able to earn this right.

3 Kano's Bionic Eye

Kano is one of the game's most popular and longest-running characters. In the trailer, he is shown both with and without gashes on his eye. However, something of note is that he is missing his cybernetic face eye plate.

It is yet unknown whether or not Kano's eye is going to worsen through the movie and viewers eventually see the character with a full eye plate or if this is the way the movie is going forward with the character.

2 Sonya Vs Kano

Even though Sonya and Kano appear as allies in this trailer, both characters have had a long-running feud in the game series. As a nod to this, both are seen to be fighting for just a brief moment in this trailer.

In the games, Kano had murdered Sonya's former partner. Since then, they've been archnemeses, both despising everything the other stands for. Kano has also terrorized not only Sonya but her entire family as well.

1 Blink And You'll Miss It

There are so many things in this trailer that anyone will miss if they so much as blink for a second while watching it. These things are awesome easter eggs and nods to the game series it's adapting, as well as hints as to which other characters are going to appear in the movie.

In one moment, Kitana's steel fans can be seen in the background. Liu Kang is shown to be fighting Kabal. One creature also materializes out of thin air. It is unknown who this character is, but theories include Noob Saibot or Reptile.
