Bugs in League of Legends aren't uncommon. The MOBA's routine patches and content updates, nevermind its precarious competitive balance, make it susceptible to unintentional errors and exploits. The latest example is an exploit related to one of League of Legends' newest champions, Viego. The issue at hand has the potential to make Viego into an extremely powerful enemy that's impossible for opposing players to counter. Suffice to say, a hotfix from Riot Games is likely already in the works.
As for what the issue is, it seems to be a bug related to the Dark Seal item and Viego's unique passive ability. The Dark Seal item allows players to earn stacks of Glory per enemy kill and assist. Glory then translates into Ability Power, one of the statistics that modifies damage. However, if the player dies, they lose stacks of Glory. Players that don't die will earn a significant power boost, but dying at all lowers the item's power significantly.

When dying, the player's stacks of Glory are never supposed to go below zero, naturally. It just goes to zero, so the player gets no bonus AP. However, apparently, Viego's passive ability, Sovereign's Domination, wasn't taken into account. Sovereign's Domination lets Viego possess a fallen enemy after their defeat. If the player then dies quickly while possessing an enemy, the Glory stacks go below zero and loop around to the highest possible Glory stack number available. In other words, it gives Viego enough AP to kill everything in the game in one shot.
The bug was apparently introduced with patch 11.5, which made some changes to how Viego's passive works with Dark Seal. And odds are a hotfix is coming soon to address the problem. In the meantime, League of Legends players probably should watch for Viego's trying to kill their characters after using his Sovereign's Domination passive ability. They're likely up to no good.
League of Legends is available now on PC.
