A nuke event inside Call of Duty: Warzone has been rumored since late last year, and in recent weeks, these rumors have reached an all-time high. Picking up steam and looking more likely with each passing day, Call of Duty: Warzone fans have an idea of how the event will play out in-game.
As of now, Call of Duty: Warzone fans know that the upcoming nuke event will supposedly bring an end to Verdansk, ushering in a new map with a 1980s theme. Leakers have implied that the nuke will be dropping on March 11, taking place as soon as the current Zombies Outbreak event ends. Today, leaker WarzoneNewz posted several quotes on Twitter, all of which seen to be taken from the game.

With leaked audio being the way that Call of Duty: Warzone’s Zombie Royale mode leaked, the same happening with the nuke event makes sense. While all the quotes are interesting, the ones dealing with a potential exfil are particularly interesting. It seems like players will have a brief window to escape Verdansk once the nuke is triggered, and players can seemingly fail this extraction if they are not quick enough. Based on one of the leaked voice lines, players will also have five minutes to reach the helicopter prior to the nuke's detonation.
Another interesting line sees players needing to “fight for [their] life,” a line that implies rumors were true regarding the ongoing Zombies event. Players believe that the Zombies at the shipwreck point of interest will soon infect other areas of Verdansk, eventually covering the entirety of the map. The Shipwreck location being “crossed off” on the map implies as much, with more areas likely to be crossed off as the Zombies continue to spread. Based on the theories, this will eventually see players needing to call in the nuke as a last-ditch effort to contain the outbreak, fighting through hordes of undead enemies on their way to the extraction zone.
While the nuke event is still not confirmed by Activision or Raven Software, there is no shortage of rumors regarding the event’s legitimacy. While some of these lines could technically be used for the new Exfiltration game mode, nothing in that mode’s description mentioned the arrival of a nuclear missile. As such, these lines are telling, and it seems more likely than not that Call of Duty: Warzone players will be escaping from a nuke later this month.
With Call of Duty: Warzone’s missile silos each containing interesting terminals that could be used to launch the missiles within, players could have an idea of how to start the event. With March 11 not far off, fans should be seeing this nuke event sooner rather than later.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
