It's been almost a year and a half since the latest entry in the Gears of War series, Gears 5, released on Xbox One and PC back in 2019. Almost two years later, the game is still getting content through its Operation system, with Gears 5 getting Operation 6 earlier this week.
Though Gears 5 is still getting new content, The Coalition is no doubt hard at work planning and developing the next entry in the Gears of War series. Now, the Cinematics Producer of The Coalition has tweeted out that the studio is actively hiring full-time positions on the team for roles such as Community Manager Director, Lead Cinematic Animator, and much more.

The full list of full-time job positions features 12 roles, with an additional 12 contract roles available as well. The website reads, "The Coalition is looking for people who are a great cultural fit with our team and have the energy, passion, and determination to get things done." The studio is looking to hire a Senior 3D Marketing Artist, as well as several Senior Gameplay-related positions on the team. Naturally, most of these open positions don't give any concrete details on the upcoming Gears of War 6 title currently in development, but it is known that these positions will be related to future Gears of Wars projects, as the website specifically makes mention of the series.
However, something that's also known is what these positions likely aren't hiring for. There have been plenty of rumors going around that Gears of War 2 was getting a remaster sometime in 2021. Unfortunately, those Gears of War 2 Remastered rumors were shut down by the official Gears of War Twitter account. While the tweet mentioned that the focus was explicitly on Gears 5 at the moment, a sequel is no doubt currently in development for the Xbox Series X.
Though this past year has been a period of relative uncertainty when it comes to many people's careers and job opportunities, it seems like a decent section of the video game industry is still looking to hire new employees. Recently, the studio behind many Legend of Zelda remake titles, Grezzo, was hiring for a new project that has not been revealed as of yet. Those with experience developing games or with experience surrounding marketing or management should definitely keep an eye out for video game studios in the hiring process.
Though Gears of War 6 is likely still a ways off, this is still good news for fans of the series. It seems The Coalition has no intention of slowing down on developing the series. Additionally, there's also room for other potential titles in the Gears of War series aside from mainline entries, such as Gears of War: Judgement or Gears Tactics. Until news of the next entry in the Gears of War series comes to light, fans of the series can hop into Gears 5's Operation 6 content right now.
