PC players are going to have to wait for the online mode of Watch Dogs Legion. Ubisoft's upcoming multiplayer feature for Watch Dogs Legion is not ready for the original release date, and is getting delayed.
The third person action game brings players into futuristic and dystopian London. Fans take on the role as a hacker group DedSec as they utilize shooting, driving, and stealth to liberate the city. After the launch in 2020, Ubisoft has been working on an online mode for the title. Recently announced as a free multiplayer update on March 9, it looks like plans are changing for Watch Dogs Legion's online mode.

Those waiting for the feature on PC will be disappointed to learn that it is no longer releasing this March. According to the post by Ubisoft, the team has discovered a major issue with the mode on PC. For players with certain GPUs, the game crashes and so far there is no remedy for this problem. With GPU shortages continuing to be a factor, Ubisoft is delaying the Watch Dogs Legion online mode for the platform. At this time, there is no specific launch date, so fans will be waiting some time before Ubisoft reveals the new date.
Though, even console gamers are facing a delay for some aspects of Watch Dogs Legion Online. During the Tactical OP missions the game was crashing as well, again with no immediate solution. Therefore, release for that game mode is moving to March 23 for PlayStation, Xbox, and Stadia. PlayStation users will see an extra delay for in-game text chat, with a limited version available until the fix arrives on March 23 as well.
It seems like Ubisoft is making sure Watch Dogs Legion Online is free of game breaking issues. Many players will likely be fine with a delay due to preferring a smooth experience. Releasing an online game that crashes at launch constantly can be a death sentence in some cases, as evidenced by Anthem's recent cancellation. Fortunately, for those on consoles the wait will only be a couple of weeks longer.
That said, these problems do not bode well for Watch Dogs Legion's upcoming multiplayer. The single player game came out months ago, and even after all this time the online is seeing another delay for all platforms. Plus, PC players are being left in the dark as to when the mode will be releasing for that platform. Big multiplayer experiences like this can be rife with glitches or broken aspects, and it sounds like the feature is facing troubles near launch. Nevertheless, those excited by early Watch Dogs Legion online previews will need to wait a bit longer.
Watch Dogs Legion is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
