Though Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Operator Samantha Maxis controlled the undead hordes as a child, it seems unlikely that Treyarch intended to give the character god mode inside of Zombies. Unfortunately, that is exactly what has happened for some players, as a game-breaking new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War glitch is happening to some Sam users.
Samantha Maxis’ Operator bundle is available now, and players willing to fork over 2400 COD Points can access the bundle now. Inside the bundle, players will get a reactive blueprint for the AK-74u and a legendary blueprint for the Gallo SA12. A moving emblem and calling card are also included, as well as a sticker and bunny weapon charm. Finally, Sam herself is unlocked in the special pack, with the god mode glitch seemingly being tied directly to Samantha herself.

Several examples of the bug in action can be seen on the Call of Duty Zombies subreddit, with one of the first being a screenshot from Redditor stinkypoopies. In the image, the Die Maschine map can be seen, though the player cannot be seen within it. Clearly meant to be standing on the staircase in spawn based on the camera positioning, the player is entirely invisible. As it turns out, they are fully invulnerable to Zombies as well, with only Megatons dealing damage to the player.
While invulnerability would give players an unfair advantage, invisibility strips that away, as it is hard to play an FPS when you can’t see your weapon or character. Further, with players so excited to use Sam, not being able to see her in-game is takes a lot of hype away from the skin. Unfortunately, this Samantha glitch can be seen inside the Firebase Z map as well, with Redditor RawkFist97 capturing the moment on video. Though the intro scene is funny with an invisible figure driving and opening the car door, seeing the player’s point of view in-game is less entertaining.
Fortunately, the bug seems limited to Zombies mode, so players should be free to use Sam inside Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer. A workaround has also been provided, which can be done by using the new bundle locker feature. According to Redditor CGProV, quick equipping Samantha as opposed to just selecting her through the Operator section seems to fix the bug. For now, it seems like players will need to use this workaround if they want to play as Sam.
Hopefully, Samantha Maxis is fixed soon, as Zombies fans have waited a long time to play as the character. For now, though, playing as one of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s other operators may be a wise idea.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
