For March 2021, PS Plus subscribers get access to five free games: Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Maquette, Farpoint VR, Remnant: From the Ashes, and Destruction AllStars (which is on the service for its second month). On top of that, thanks to the Play at Home Initiative, players can also pick up and play Ratchet and Clank 2016.
All in all, PS Plus' free games for March 2021 are a feast for gamers, as there's a little something for everyone. FF7R is great for those who haven't picked it up yet as a general, all-around fantasy game, Maquette scratches the itch for puzzle fans, Farpoint VR is just that: a VR game, Remnant: From the Ashes scratches a 'Souls with Guns' itch (though it is more than just that), and there's some dumb multiplayer fun to be had in Destruction AllStars. Indeed, ever since the PS5 started making strides in marketing, PS Plus has meeting the quality of that hardware with the quality of its subscription.

Every monthly offering PS Plus provides is entirely subjective; while the above games have a broad appeal so someone should at least like one game, there's no promise that every single person will be happy. However, one could suggest that a "bad" month can be identified by the general reception and fan feedback. For example, May 2020's offerings were panned by everyone, but in its defense, that came on the heel on an unbelievable rumor that built a ton of hype. Many believed, unreasonably, that May 2020 would have Dark Souls Remastered and Dying Light; instead, fans were met with Cities Skylines and Farming Simulator 2019.
The months that followed were decent for many, good even, but then as the PS5 ramped up, so too did PS Plus. November saw Bugsnax appear on the service for two months, a PS5 game, and now there's Destruction AllStars. The two-month offerings are interesting enough, but then Sony piled an additional PS5 game onto a couple of months. It went from two games every month to three and then four, combined with the two-month releases. While it's not part of the required PS Plus, the Play at Home Initiative adds even more value to being a PlayStation player. In other words, PS Plus has hit a new high and taken expectations further than anyone could have imagined a year ago
However, it would be remiss for anyone to expect this hype train to never end. Sony may eventually back off from as many offerings, once again changing up its style, but how it handles that will be important. The PS Plus May 2020 offerings were petitioned because fans were not happy, but at the time, expectations were not so high. A "big game, niche game" pattern had emerged, so fans somewhat knew what to expect. If Sony were to quit this cold turkey, going from a month with 5 games to be claimed to 2 lackluster games, then its fanbase may not be as happy. There's no telling when, or more importantly if, PS Plus will have a "bad" month again, but it seems like something that will happen eventually.
Still, there's two things to consider in terms of PS Plus having a bad or off-month. First, it's probably not soon: with Play at Home lasting four months, it's not likely PS Plus is just going to drop quality quickly or perhaps even in this time frame. Secondly, when and if this month comes, fans should keep in mind that PS Plus has been on a hotstreak. It may eventually end, but everything that has come before suggests that everything that comes after a bad month is still going to make the sheer value of PS Plus continue to skyrocket.
