Harry Potter Wizards Unite - Why Isn't There A March Events Calendar?

Harry Potter Wizards Unite players can now learn why there isn't a published calendar of in-game events for March 2021 and what that means.

Usually, every Niantic mobile game lays out a schedule of events for the month a few days before it's time to flip the calendar. Although the Pokemon GO March 2021 press release arrived as usual, we're a full week into the new month and there is still no Harry Potter Wizards Unite events calendar to be seen. This has, understandably, left some players pretty confused about what to expect from the game in the coming weeks.

Some news and better than no news and the Harry Potter Wizards Unite finally provided some explanation in a March 5 blog post about the current state of the game. Although there's still not a full March 2021 calendar to share, the blog post did outline what is going on and why the usual two-part Brilliant Event and Community Day activities haven't been officially announced. As it turns out, there are some major bugs plaguing the game that the team decided need to be addressed before the rollout of any additional major events. That means that players are stuck with just some minor Spotlight events until the next significant patch is successfully implemented.

The post went on to confirm that the team is working hard to address the issues already, but there was no projected timeline for when the fixes would arrive and the game could return to normal. Here's a closer look at everything that has been shared so far...

"Thank you for your patience as we are finalizing the March Events calendar. Our team has been focused on working on the 2.17.0 release. This update will include fixes for major bugs currently impacting players, including the issues preventing the in-game SOS Report from appearing, purchasing issues that have impacted some players on iOS, and errors with Adventure Sync impacting players on Android. While we don’t have an exact timeline for 2.17.0, we want to assure you that the team is working hard to get this release out the door... We have decided to give the 2.17.0 release our full attention, and therefore our planned schedule for March in-game events will be getting shifted. We will share an updated calendar of the March Events when we have a clearer view on what that will look like."

Spotlight: Emergency Foundables : Friday, March 5 at 11 a.m. PT–Monday , March 8 at 11 a.m. PT

Start the month by helping the S.O.S. The Task Force tackle this surge of Emergency Traces. Expect to see an increase of Rubeus Hagrid, Tom Riddle, Newt Scamander, and more!

Spotlight: International Women’s Day: Monday, March 8 at 11 a.m. PT–Tuesday, March 9 at 11 a.m. PT

Celebrate International Women’s Day with increased appearances of prominent witches, such as Professor McGonagall, Young Hermione Granger, and others!

It's good that there are at least these Spotlight events to give players something to do, but don't expect any significant tasks and rewards to be associated with them. Players will need to wait for the return of the usual events before they can get back to working through timed storyline chains and unlocking more powerful event rewards.

If any additional details or information is revealed, we’ll be sure to post an update. Be sure to check back in the comings days for more Wizards Unite strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, keep your wands at the ready!
