Greydwarf eyes are one of the many materials Valheim players will need to upgrade, make potions, fast travel, and survive in this dangerous game.

Valheim's massive, procedurally-generated world map is crawling with all sorts of dangerous beasts and twisted undead critters. But these enemies can all drop useful items that can be used to craft food, weapons, armor, and more. One of the many useful drops in Valheim is a Greydwarf eye.

Greydwarf eyes, as might be supposed are dropped by Greydwarves. These creatures are found in the Black Forest Biome. This biome not only home to one of the early Valheim bosses, the Elder, but also houses a variety of Greydwarves, including Brutes, Shamans, and basic Greydwarves. The only ones that drop eyes are the basic, blue-eyed Greydwarf. Greydwarves that are either one- or two-stars will drop more than one eye usually.

Thankfully, Greydwarf eyes are a guaranteed drop from these creatures, so players can farm them easily in the Black Forest, especially at night when the Greydwarves are out in force. While Greydwarves don't have a weakness per say and players can use any kind of weapon in Valheim against them, they do hate fire and will avoid any player carrying around a torch.

Eyes are used in building, potion-making, and more. The most important application for eyes are portals, the fast-travel system to move easily across Valheim's huge map. Players will need to collect fine wood in order to get this recipe; it takes 10 Greydwarf eyes, 20 fine wood, and 2 Surtling Cores to construct one. However, players will need a portal at each side of where they wish to transfer to and from, so they will want to double this recipe to make a complete pair.

Greydwarf eyes can also be used to upgrade the copper knife and are used to create wards to protect PVP Valheim players from letting other players into their bases. Eyes are also used to create the frost-resistance potion to allow players to start entering the Mountain Biome without taking damage from Freezing. This potion is made with 10 Honey, 5 Thistle, 2 Bloodbags from Swamp leeches, and 1 Greydwarf eye. This potion must then be fermented in a Fermenter before it can be used. This process takes 2 in-game days.

While there are no other known uses for these eyes, players can use them for decoration. According to many Valheim memes that can be found on Reddit, players will be overrun by Greydwarf eyes by late game, so players can certainly have a little fun with them.

Valheim is in Early Access for PC.
