Loop Hero is one of the year's standout titles on PC, taking Steam by storm since it was released, but will the game be arriving on consoles?

Loop Hero has proven to be exactly what players were looking for to start their 2021 in gaming. The game has rapidly become a top-seller on Steam as players have jumped onboard the wonderful mix of deck builder, rogue-lite, and auto battler. Developers Four Quarters have managed a deft mix of familiar elements and changed them into something new, exciting, and addictive.

In Loop Hero, players control a lone hero that has been thrown into a world of darkness and confusion. The only thing that seems to exist is the loop, a path through the darkness that is populated by monsters. Killing these monsters will cause items and tiles to drop and will allow players to collect vast amounts of resources they will need to expand their camp and grow more powerful. As players get further into the loop, the challenges get tougher, monsters more dangerous, and the rewards are greater.

This simple mix of mechanics has captured the minds of hundreds of thousands of people on PC, and players are wondering if the game will be coming to consoles in the future. Unfortunately, there is no confirmation of the game making a move to consoles at the moment from either the developers or publisher Devolver Digital.

Despite the PC-centric design, Loop Hero's success makes it a fantastic candidate for a console port, especially to a system like the Nintendo Switch, where the tile placement aspect of the gameplay would really shine thanks to the system's touchscreen. Consoles would also have little difficulty running the game thanks to the pixel art style that it uses.

At the moment, without any formal confirmation from the developer or publisher, any talk of Loop Hero on consoles is simple speculation, so any player that is interested in the title will need to purchase it from Steam, GoG, Epic Games Stores, or Humble Bundle.  The good news is that the extremely light requirements to run the game means the vast majority of players will have no issue doing so, regardless of how old their build is.

The stripped-down and refined design of Loop Hero certainly makes it one of the most important games to be released in some time, showcasing how engaging and addictive simple gameplay mechanics can be when designed with great care.
