Capcom's long-running Monster Hunter franchise is seeing a new release on the Nintendo Switch in just two months and this time, it's an exclusive title that will not be coming to other consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Monster Hunter Rise will take players on a brand-new adventure with never-before-seen creatures, a new Wirebug mechanic to move around faster, and several more gameplay features, such as one that lets hunters ride on top of wyverns and control them.
The downloadable demo for Monster Hunter Rise was made available to everyone last week, including two different monster hunt quests and other training quests to get inexperienced players ready to go for the full release in March. The demo provides a single-player experience but there was also multiplayer to dive into for up to four-player cooperative hunts. Unfortunately, many Switch players are experiencing a terrible bug that causes major frame-rate lag during online play. The issue is tied to having too many friends on the Switch friends list, but Capcom has come out to make a statement concerning the issue.

The Japanese Twitter account for Monster Hunter Rise tweeted out a short message today essentially telling Monster Hunter fans that the friends list bug has been confirmed and promises that the bug will not be in the final release of the game in a few weeks. This is good news for players who have been faced with connectivity issues and are suspicious of the full game's online capabilities. Monster Hunter titles on handheld platforms, such as the Nintendo 3DS and Switch, have been known to have excellent online play with little to no lag. It seems that Rise will not be an exception.
Unfortunately, for those players who are still playing the Monster Hunter Rise demo, it's unlikely that this issue will be fixed. Developers and publishers typically don't update or release patches/fixes for demos or limited game trials.
Monster Hunter Rise is a Nintendo Switch exclusive that will launch on March 26, 2021. However, because of info that came out of a recent Capcom leak, it seems that the latest entry in the monster-hunting franchise will make its way to PC as well. The PC port will reportedly allow players to pick between different visual modes, such as a 30fps or 60fps option. Monster Hunter Rise would be the second game in the series to make its way to PC, following Monster Hunter: World and its hefty expansion, Iceborne.
