The upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate online tournament only allows characters that can transform and change their appearance.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pokemon-themed online tournament has only just concluded and now, another online all-out battle awaits its avid players. Just recently, the development team announced the theme for their next event, and this time, the tourney will focus on characters that are all about transformation.

The upcoming tournament seems to come at just the right time, when the new DLC characters Pyra and Mythra have already been implemented into the game. With the theme focusing on characters that can transform, players will be able to practice their gameplay using these specific fighters, and even learn from other competitors that they may encounter online.

In the official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Twitter, the devs shared that the official start date of the tournament is on March 12, 2021. As mentioned before, the theme will center on fighters that can change their appearance, whether they can switch and become different people, change their overall color scheme, or transform the shape of the outfit they are wearing. Like the usual online tournaments, players who do better and win more fights will be rewarded with better Spirit units for their Spirit Board.

The Twitter post also shared a key art, featuring the only characters that can be used in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate “Transformation”-themed online tourney. These characters include Pyra and Mythra, Joker from the Persona 5 series, Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the Inklings from Splatoon, and even Mario himself. Each of these characters can shift their appearances in some way, making them perfect contenders for the competition.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to be one of the best-selling games for the Nintendo Switch. And with regular content such as online tournaments and events, and the character roster still growing, it is no wonder that the players are still engaged and continue to play the game, despite it being close to three years old this 2021.
