A Reddit user creates a mock up cinematic scene from From Software's highly anticipated game Elden Ring, showcasing an unsettling monster design.

From Software fans seem to be in a fever pitch of anticipation over the development studio's unreleased title, Elden Ring. Elden Ring was first revealed in 2019 at Xbox's E3 press conference, and no substantial new footage or information about the game has been released since then.

As a result, fans are doing all they can to stave off the anticipation for the game now more than ever, with a handful of leaks surfacing around the internet showing bits of gameplay and footage. Many fans have started making fan art and mock-ups of the game, such as one Reddit user who recently created an Elden Ring mock-up cinematic showcasing a boss encounter in an underground cavern.

The Reddit post was submitted to the Elden Ring subreddit by a user going by the name arcturus_mundus. This bit of Elden Ring fan art shows an image of a knight clad in armor holding a torch approaching a massive skeletal figure with the caption, "Oh, you tragic thing! Lost in these forsaken ruins are we?" Notably, it seems that the art itself comes from a concept artist named Michael Topol's ArtStation account, whose original piece is titled "Forgotten Bones."

While the piece's original artist is not credited in arturus_mundus' original posts, the user did link to the original art several times in the post's comments, at the very least. Regardless, it's an interesting bit of fan art that encapsulates the sense of scale in some of the Dark Souls series' fan-favorite boss fights. While giant skeletons have made appearances in Dark Souls games in the past, being an enemy in both Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered, a dedicated boss fight to a towering skeleton would certainly make for a memorable fight in Elden Ring.

Thankfully, the Reddit user also clearly labeled that the piece was simply a mock-up and not some sort of leaked screenshot from the game. While many users probably would have deduced as such themselves, plenty of Elden Ring fans have been tricked by leaks in recent weeks. With the Elden Ring leaks swirling around the internet, plenty of talented fans began to create their own concept art of the game, or steal art from existing artists and brand them as Elden Ring leaks. As such, it's been a very confusing time for fans of the games trying to decipher what is real and what is not.

Plenty of rumors surrounding the game's development, reveal, and release date have been going around the industry lately, with plenty of changing details and conflicting information. Just recently a new rumor claimed that Elden Ring's March reveal was delayed thanks to the leaks circling the internet, but it remains unclear whether or not a March reveal was even planned in the first place. Needless, to say it's been a very frustrating experience for those fans eager to see more of the game. Hopefully, Elden Ring fans are able to stave off their growing anticipation by creating more mock-ups and fan art as an inevitable reveal draws closer.

Elden Ring is currently in development.
