Fans have heard next to nothing about Starfield, Bethesda's next major game, but the team offers a small update during today's Xbox Round Table.

It's been a massive day for both Bethesda and Xbox, as the two companies come together to discuss the future of their respective brands, now joined together. While fans got a ton of juicy new details about how Bethesda is going to operate, there weren't many updates on games. That being said, Bethesda did offer a slight nod to Starfield, one of its next major titles.

While not an earth-shattering revelation by any means, it seems that Starfield development is going relatively smoothly, or at the very least, the team is excited for what it's putting together. During the Xbox Bethesda Round Table that took place today, Bethesda Game Studios Managing Director Ashley Cheng elaborated on how the team behind Starfield is working together to create an innovative new experience.

According to Cheng, the Starfield team has "worked on several open-world RPGs" together in the past, and that "shared experience and chemistry" isn't something that happens overnight. A team working fluidly together is an important part of any project, but especially so for game development, and even more so for game development during the coronavirus pandemic.

For Bethesda's future titles in general, Cheng says that Xbox is a great partner to work with and always has been. According to Cheng, Xbox is willing to give new concepts a shot "no matter how crazy the idea." New ideas push the industry forward, paving the way for more innovative gaming experiences. In an industry that's often dominated by triple-a sequels, that's an important thing.

While it's not much to go off of, Cheng's words should help reassure fans of Bethesda that the developer is in good hands with the new Xbox partnership. Bethesda teased announcements this summer, so it's possible that the company runs yet another press conference this year, just as it has a few years prior. With a large number of projects now expected from the company, it seems likely that Bethesda would have enough to talk about to fill a decent amount of air time.

On top of the small Starfield update, fans can look forward to more Bethesda games on Xbox Game Pass starting tomorrow, with 20 new games slated to join the service, bolstering the existing lineup significantly. The future of Bethesda seems to be largely intertwined with the future of Game Pass, though it will be interesting to see how the developer's games turn out from here on.

Starfield is currently in development.
