A popular Call of Duty leaker is spreading rumors regarding several high-profile releases from Activision and EA targeted towards 2022.

A new rumor is spreading regarding a sequel to the 2019 release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The claim is the popular shooter appears to have had a sequel green-lit by Activision, which could mean that fans might be diving back into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare story. The prediction is still two years out, but that doesn't mean that details won't come sooner rather than later.

The game is planned to be a follow-up to the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release. After the initial title rebooted the franchise, fans flooded back into a familiar battleground and were introduced to the popular Call of Duty: Warzone experience. With rumors of a sequel on the horizon, fans are wondering what it could mean for the original game and Call of Duty: Warzone's future advancements.

The rumor comes from popular Call of Duty insider Tom Henderson who believes that Modern Warfare 2 will be releasing in 2022. While he does not provide context, he lists a variety of high-profile Activision and EA titles alongside his Call of Duty prediction. In a later Tweet, he does clarify that he is referring to the sequel to the 2019 release, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 recently underwent a remastering for its community to enjoy.

Tom Henderson's prediction is not completely unwarranted, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone have experienced amazing success since their launch. With fans still dedicated to the year-old titles, it would make sense for Activision to start Infinity Ward on moving the release forward. It is unknown if Call of Duty: Warzone will be integrated or still around, but the community seems dedicated to keeping these titles afloat.

Based on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players can expect to see many of the rebooted characters returning once again. Captain John Price, Nikolai, and several other familiar faces are expected to be released in the next installment. The Modern Warfare community is still waiting on the release of John "Soap" MacTavish, but there are many others who could make an appearance in a new Modern Warfare title.

Tom Henderson has been correct in predictions like this before, and if he is to be believed, several other high-profile titles are expected in 2022. The leak suggests that Starfield, Titanfall 3, and Skull and Bones will all be released in the same year. With Titfanfall 3 already reported in the works previous to Apex Legends' launch, then it is possible that the leak is accurate with these release dates.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
