Despite releasing on the Nintendo Switch back in 2017, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has seen quite a lot of attention recently, mainly thanks to the addition of Pyra and Mythra as playable fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. And although many fans expected Xenoblade Chronicles 2's protagonist Rex to earn a well-deserved spot on the roster, many were quite welcoming of the 2-in-1 character representing one of the Switch's best-selling JRPG's as well.
Since the characters were announced for Smash, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has seen incredible sales, reportedly even selling out at certain Japanese retailers. With the game getting so much attention, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Xenoblade fans alike have taken to the internet to share fan-art, clips of the characters in Smash, and more. Now, it looks like fans can look forward to getting their hands on some high-quality figures of the characters, though not for a while.

Japanese figure manufacturer Good Smile Company released Pyra and Mythra figures back in 2018 and 2019 respectively, but the figures have been out of production and unavailable to many for some time. However, keeping to a promise the company made over an entire year ago, the figures will be available once again for a limited time both in Japan and North America.
This announcement comes just a week after Good Smile Company opened up pre-orders for another Xenoblade Chronicles figure. Coming in at over 8 inches tall, the Pyra and Mythra figures are 1/7 scale and will run fans ¥20,166, or about $193 USD each. The figures feature the popular Blades with their respective swords, and were created using art from Xenoblade Chronicles 2's character designer Saitou Masatsugu. Each figure can currently be pre-ordered from Good Smile Company up until April 21 for as long as supplies last, and will then be shipped by September 2022 in Japan and October 2022 in North America. So, while these coveted figures are making a long-awaited return, it seems that fans will have to wait even longer after pre-ordering.
During the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mr. Sakurai Presents "Pyra/Mythra" video presentation last week, Sakurai was accompanied by the Good Smile Company Pyra and Mythra figures throughout the entire video. Later on in the presentation, the director acknowledged the two figures, mentioning they are "incredibly well made," and that he likes to purchase figures of characters he plans on adding to Smash to use as references.
Although fans will have to wait quite some time to get their hands on these high-quality Pyra and Mythra figures, they can enjoy the characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate right now either purchased individually or as part of the game's Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Now that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has cemented its spot in gaming history with Pyra and Mythra on Smash's roster, it will certainly be interesting to see what comes for the series next.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
