Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts of 60 hours of game time, however hardcore fans are likely to agree that completing the game in its entirety will cost upwards of 100 hours. Even then, fans will not lack in end-game activities, as the RDR2 community makes some of the best content to keep players engaged. This includes serious story-related mods such as one that adds a gunsmith operation in the game, to hilarious ones that allows players to ride giant animals. A YouTuber named Shesez recently filmed his explorations of Red Dead Redemption 2 in the lowest graphics settings possible for non-playable characters. He uses a camera tool called Freecam that is created by user Evil Blunt. Though he is able to use the tool to look around the game's cutscenes, there is a crucial glitch that makes the main protagonist Arthur invisible when he watches them. After tweaking the game's system files, and placing them at the lowest setting possible, Shesez shows that most NPCs in Red Dead Redemption 2 turn into unidentifiable blob people. He slowly scales the settings up to the point where the NPCs' eyes bug out of their heads only when they are sitting on a park bench. This can be seen in the video's 1:39 mark.
This video is part of Shesez's attempt to discover developer techniques in Red Dead Redemption 2, and showcase the differences between the NPC graphic settings in the game. He also shows off how Arthur's bathing scene in the game is completely modeled, though he points out that Arthur has some secrets hiding underneath his bathtub's suds.
Fans are likely to find this glitch hilarious, though it does provide some insight to how the graphics settings are laid out within the the game. Given just how gorgeous Red Dead Redemption 2 can be when its available visual options are maxed out, fans may find this low resolution view of the game unique and refreshing.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, and PC.
