One of the forebearers of the indie game renaissance the video game industry is still currently experiencing, Super Meat Boy is both historically important and still incredibly fun, if not occasionally frustrating, to play. The franchise has endured for well over a decade, as its most recent entry and sequel to the original, Super Meat Boy Forever, finally had its official release last month after multiple delays and great anticipation.
Gamers and critics alike on the Nintendo Switch noticed that the release, while highly enjoyable, was far from perfect, however. Multiple performance issues were cited by both critics and fans, to some disappointment for such an anticipated release. Developer Team Meat has seen and heard these issues loud and clear and has a solution ready to be implemented.

In a tweet, the developers highlighted a staggering amount of gameplay, performance patches, fixes, and upgrades in the 6202.1273.1563.138 update for the Switch version. These include, but are not limited to level completion issues, teleportation, gravity, controller mapping and much more. It's worth noting that controller mapping may effect certain previously set controller schemes, so interested gamers should review the update thoroughly.
Team Meat should be applauded for providing such an in-depth and detailed series of patches and updates to support the game on the popular Nintendo console. Constant support of any game is the hallmark of great developers, especially in a game where so many minor details can effect the precise nature of Super Meat Boy Forever's controls and platforming challenges.
After nearly 6 years in development, it came as quite a surprise to fans that Super Meat Boy Forever would be a timed console exclusive for the Switch. Considering that Nintendo has done an incredible job in partnering with independent developers, it will be exciting to see how many people get to experience this unique and challenging indie platformer for the very first time.
Super Meat Boy Forever is available now for PC and Switch, with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and mobile versions launching later this year.
