Gaming fans were treated to a neat surprise when Century: Age of Ashes was revealed at The Game Awards in 2020 from UK-based indie developer Playwing. A new gameplay trailer for Century: Age of Ashes has revealed more details about the classes, game modes, and maps that will be available at launch.
Century: Age of Ashes is a free-to-play multiplayer game that will launch in Early Access next month, and features fantasy-based aerial combat similar to Star Wars: Squadrons. While free-to-play, the game will offer extensive cosmetic options to keep players interested.

Initially, players will be able to choose from three classes like the Naerdor Phantom which uses Mystic Shroud to cloak themselves for a short period of time, and can equip either explosive Mines or a shockwave Blast. The Skeldin Windguard can use Salvation Surge to dash to an ally and provide a temporary shield, and can equip either a poisonous Smoke Trail or the shockwave Blast. The Svard Marauder can use Hunter's Mark to throw a tracking fireball at a specific enemy, and can equip a projectile-blocking Gust or enemy-impairing Frost Bolts.
The dragon-riding action in Century: Age of Ashes will take place in one of three games modes. Carnage is essentially a Team Deathmatch mode while Survival pits three teams of 6 against each other to see who will be the last team standing. Gates of Fire is a type of capture-the-flag mode, where players earn points by flying a flag through special gates around the three launch maps.
Century: Age of Ashes has a ton of potential and has the potential to become a new multiplayer hit that speaks to fans of the fantasy genre, much like the battle royale Spellbreak. While the gameplay shown off in the trailer looks promising, it will be interesting to see players' opinions of the game when it releases.
Century: Age of Ashes will release in Early Access on Steam in April 2021.
