Ever since the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator became a massive hit with PC players, Xbox Series X and Xbox One owners were eagerly awaiting an update on a port to the two consoles. Now, the game will officially hit Series X and S later this year, bringing the game's stunning airborne vistas to console players around the world. However, news of an Xbox One version was nonexistent, all but confirming a previous-gen port was not launching alongside the Series X release.
Talking with Eurogamer, Microsoft Flight Simulator project head Jorg Neumann discussed whether an Xbox One version of the game would launch alongside the Series X, which he confirmed it won't. However, he does clarify that the idea isn't out of the question, claiming that it would all come down to a number of different factors.

"I guess it's a timing thing," Neumann tells the publication when asked about the potential of an Xbox One port of the game. "Obviously memory matters. Certainly, on Ultra settings, you need a big PC - well, that's a lot, lot more memory than what you had on an Xbox One," he continues, going on to claim that the team is hoping to get the Series X version of the title out the door before looping back around to see what can be done with an Xbox One version. It seems whatever happens with the potential port, Neumann wants to ensure that everyone playing has a relative experience, telling Eurogamer "it has to be very similar."
Nonetheless, it seems an Xbox One version of the game isn't currently underway for now, so those still sporting a previous generation console shouldn't get their hopes up for an imminent release. As for the Xbox Series X port, little more is known about the version outside the fact it'll allegedly launch this Summer and be available for Xbox Game Pass on day one. The game's PC version was a significant success upon release, pulling in high review scores and tremendous sales as players marveled at its rendition of the entire planet through the use of Bing Maps.
As for other ports coming to Xbox this year, the storefront will be getting the Yakuza Remastered Collection on January 28 and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life on March 25, with both games originally launching on the PlayStation 4. Rust will also allegedly be making its way to the console, with an ESRB rating discovered earlier this month claiming the title would be available at some point during this year. For now though, it seems Xbox One players will have to keep their fingers crossed that Microsoft decides to take a stab at bringing Microsoft Flight Simulator to the previous-generation console following its grand debut on the Xbox Series X.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is available for PC, with an Xbox Series X/S version slated to launch in 2021. An Xbox One version is also being considered.
