Thomas the Tank Engine is headed straight to Valhalla. At least that's what one player may have envisioned when they brought the locomotive to life in Valheim. Unfortunately, this version of Thomas is unlikely to bring joy to millions of children and more likely to conjure nightmares in all who look upon it.
Although posted to Reddit by user ugotdatricardo only a few days ago, the terrifying Thomas was created a few weeks ago and has begun circulating around social media mostly due to its horrifying appearance. Considering the simplicity of building Thomas in Valheim, a few examples have popped up around Reddit, but the earliest seems to be attributed to Steam player qwe2256789.

In contrast to other creations, like the Eiffel Tower in Valheim, this Thomas recreation seems relatively feasible. It is comprised of one-meter wooden poles, item stands with wooden shields mounted on them and a central four-meter pole. The centerpiece, of course, is a troll trophy, standing in for Thomas's face. The material requirements are surprisingly low and require very little progression into the game. The most difficult to obtain being bronze nails for the item stand. If players felt so inclined, they could easily replicate this Thomas the Tank Engine even early in the game.
Ironically, the Reddit post is titled "Not so scary now, are you, big guy?" Likely a reference to the troll that was killed and turned into a trophy. But, commenters have universally decided that this version of the troll is actually scarier.
While the troll is often the face of Valheim memes, there is something undeniably off-putting about the sneering visage of a slain troll in place of the usual smiling face of Thomas the Tank Engine. Fans will have to chalk this one up as more bone-chilling than funny.
This is far from the first time that Thomas the Tank Engine has made its way into the gaming sphere. Everyone's childhood favorite locomotive has made appearances in countless games such as Sekiro, Fallout 4, and more recently, Thomas even entered Cyberpunk 2077. In fact, with the inexplicable popularity of Thomas in gaming culture, fans might be surprised that it took this long to enter Valheim.
Whether players plan to include Thomas in their server or not, this is one of the few creations that can be achieved without the use of console commands and cheats in Valheim. Perhaps this will be a catalyst for even more imaginative creations in Valheim with countless childhood characters still yet to be recreated. Even with its rudimentary nature, this is one creation that players won't soon forget—for all the wrong reasons.
Valheim is available now on PC.
