Even though it's been roughly 4 months since release, the PlayStation 5 is seeing shortages worldwide partly due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Although the PlayStation 4 won't be forgotten by Sony anytime soon, the increasing graphical requirements of upcoming games makes it optimal to have the most recent generation of console hardware. That's why, in the case of those who are stuck with the PlayStation 4, any news of extensive damage done to the treasured PlayStation 5 is horrifying to hear about.
As widespread and entertaining as gaming is, it's no surprise that children across the globe have access to consoles. While some would argue that kids have too much access to video games, the onset of the global pandemic has undoubtedly made it easier on the younger generation. Most are stuck at home with only computer screens to learn from, so having some of that time go to screens filled with explosions and immersive gameplay is a nice trade-off. That said, kids are known to be impatient at times, making the actions of one in particular almost to be expected.

Posting a few pictures to the Tech Support Gore subreddit, Redditor cdq1985 revealed images of an absolutely marred PS5 HDMI port. Complete with scratches, deformed metal and twisted connectors, for even the least tech savvy individual, it was clear that there was no way an HDMI cord would fit.
What adds a hilarious element to the situation is the child's particular response to how the bizarre situation occurred. On the other hand, according to cdq1985, the situation is relatively common as it was the second one they'd had in 3 days. One comment even swears that the HDMI port is smaller compared to previous consoles, although cdq1985 attributes this to brand new connector pins that still have their tension. Altogether, the port is easily replaceable, giving the kid's little mistake a simple and easy fix.
On the other hand, some kids go the complete opposite way about the mistakes they've made, even going as far as to call the police. The pandemic has no doubt caused parents to lean heavily on the availability of game consoles in their household to keep their children busy. Likewise, kids just want to have fun with their favorite games and online friends during a tough and confusing time. The situation is a harsh one, although if it's the case of HDMI ports, being patient in plugging them in only means more game time.
