It's been a long road for Gothic fans. Since the last release in the series, nearly a decade has passed with nothing new for fans to enjoy so when rumors began to arise of a Gothic remake, fans were right to be skeptical. In fact, when the project was first discussed, THQ Nordic was quite open about the fact that the Gothic remake would be canceled if the fanbase's interest waned.
Now, alongside the Gothic teaser demo Steam page, an official page for the Gothic remake has appeared. The marked success of the teaser demo proved to be more than enough to get the go-ahead from the studio. This arrival of this official Steam page should all but waylay the worries of anxious fans living in fear of a cancelation. Of course, along with the game's arrival on Steam, came five new screenshots offering a peek at the game's beautiful remastering.

In the original Gothic, orcs are waging a winning war against humanity. In order to fight back, the king requires vast amounts of magical ore. As a punishment for their deeds, criminals are sent to ore mines and forced to work there under the protection of a large magical barrier. The game begins when a revolt breaks out in the mining colony and players take control of an unnamed prisoner with the story springboarding from there.
With the green light from a successful demo, THQ Nordic formed a studio called Alkimia Interactive, that would focus solely on RPG titles, namely Gothic. While there is no official release date, the appearance of a Steam page is encouraging, and the screenshots found there will have to satisfy players' appetites for now.
Gothic is currently in development and expected to release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
