Demon's Souls is full of dangers, but it also has a ton of odd yet loveable characters that can be recreated through character creation.

Demon's Souls is a notoriously hard game, but that doesn't mean that players have to give up fashion and style in order to survive. In fact, it's even possible to create what many refer to as cosplay builds by collecting the right gear and working the character creation system a bit. Essentially, these builds focus less on effectiveness and more on appearances and lore, allowing the player to go through the game as one of the NPC characters that is already in the game. This can create some very cool moments as well as some funny ones when players inevitably run into the NPC that inspired their character. For those wanting to roleplay as Demon's Souls' Ostrava of Boletaria, it is actually a fairly simple task.

Aside from the NPCs in the Nexus, Ostrava of Boletaria is one of the first NPCs players will meet in Demon's Souls. The first time players encounter him is in the Gates of Boletaria, world 1-1, and he makes another appearance in every level of that Archstone should players manage to keep him alive. As the true son of King Allant and the prince of Boletaria, he's something of a fan favorite. Pair this together with his tragic story and it makes sense that fans would want to play as the character.

Thankfully, Ostrava makes character creation a breeze since he is always wearing a helmet. This makes this cosplay build a great jumping off point for beginners, as it doesn't require any manipulating of sliders at the start of the game. The only truly important thing here is to choose the Knight class, as this will get players started on the right path with much of the gear they'll need to complete this build. In terms of starting gift, anything will work, but it is advised to take either the Providential Ring for Item Discovery, or the Firebombs for early damage.

This next step is very important, as players will only have one chance to get the helmet they need to complete this cosplay build. For the most part, Ostrava simply wears the Fluted armor set, the same one that the Knight starts with, but his helmet is different. The Iron Helmet has the exact same stats as the Fluted Helmet, but it keeps the appearance of the Fluted set from the original Demon's Souls. To get this, players need to defeat the Vanguard Demon in the tutorial without dying once. Those struggling with this can use Firebombs to make the fight a bit easier.

As previously mentioned, Ostrava wears the Fluted armor set, and this can be obtained in one of two ways. The easiest way is to start as the Knight class, as this will give players the entire Fluted armor set right off the bat. At this point, the only thing remains is to seek out the helmet. Alternatively, for those players that already started the game as a different class, the Fluted set can be found in its entirety in the Prison of Hope, world 3-1.

To get this armor in the Prison of Hope, players will need to make their way down to the first floor. From here, head down the corridor right outside of the gate and find two bodies laying next to each other. One of them has the Silver Bracelets, a female only item that grants additional souls, while the other has the full Fluted set. Remember that players will need to replace the Fluted Helmet with the Iron Helmet obtained in the Forlorn Outpost after defeating the Vanguard Demon in the tutorial.

So far, all of Ostrava's gear has been relatively easy to obtain, but the same can't be said for his weapon and shield. Unfortunately, players can only get these items at the very end of the King's Tower, world 1-4. Whether or not players manage to save Ostrava in each area and continue his questline, players will eventually come face to face with his Black Phantom. Defeating him in this form will drop the Rune Sword and Rune Shield items, completing the gear portion of this cosplay build.

Ostrava is a powerful Black Phantom, so players will need to be careful when fighting him. What's more, he spawns on a narrow bridge, which has the potential to cause either the player or Ostrava to fall off. While this may sound like something players could use to their advantage, his drops sometimes do not load properly if he dies in this way, so it's best to lure him back to solid ground for the fight. Players that have already killed the Blue Dragon outside could bring him out to Biorr, who will help the player dispatch of him.

Statting out a character for an Ostrava of Boletaria cosplay build is actually a rather strange experience, owing mainly to the fact that the Rune Sword requires very little in terms of stat investment. In order to wield both the Rune Sword and the Rune Shield in one hand, players will need a Strength of 12 and a Magic of 18. The Knight class starts with a strength of 14, so Magic just needs to be upgraded from 10 to 18.

Next, in order to wear everything without fat rolling, players will need to increase their Endurance up to 42. Though not necessary, it helps to get Faith up to 16 so players can equip the Second Chance Miracle, but the rest of the stats can simply go into Vitality for more HP. Those that don't mind getting the Fluted Armor after character creation will actually save a few stat points in the long run by starting as the Priest.

For rings, it's really up to player preference, but the Regenerator Ring paired with the Eternal Warrior Ring work marvelously as a pair. If players are planning on engaging in more PVP, the elusive Foe's Ring may be the better choice. Other options include using the Ring of Magical Dullness to help defend against magic users or the Clever Rat's Ring to boost damage when HP is low. Regardless, with all of this in tow, players should be able to play through Demon's Souls with confidence that they are about as Ostrava as one can possibly get.

Demon's Souls is available now on PS5.
