Fortnite Chapter 2 has officially kicked off Season 6, and that means new features for players to get their hands on. Unlike previous seasons, Season 6 includes the introduction of a crafting system in Fortnite, giving players the ability to harvest various material types in order to make their own advanced weaponry and items. With tons of wildlife and machinery for players to scavenge, it's clear that crafting is at the center of this season and will play a huge part in players having a shot at victory.
Crafting will grant players access to two weapon classes: Primal and Mechanical (Classic). Primal weapons, based on the seasonal theme of "Survival," have greater power and do more damage, while Mechanical weapons are more precise. There's also a base class, called "Makeshift" weapons, which can be combined with different materials to become Primal or Mechanical depending on the resources used.

There are eight different weapons players can craft in Fortnite Season 6. Like the Hunter's Cloak, crafting these items goes toward this weeks' Legendary Quest of crafting three items. All of this falls in line with the Week 1 challenges, making it a convenient process for players to get in some early season XP.
While some weapons can be upgraded to Primal or Mechanical form, combining certain crafting materials can result in variations of the same weapon. As of now, here are all of the Season 6 guns:
- Mechanical Explosive Bow
- Mechanical Shockwave Bow
- Primal Stink Bow
- Primal Flame Bow
- Primal SMG
- Primal Shotgun
- Primal Rifle
- Primal Pistol
Alternatively, players can avoid the danger of collecting materials by using Fortnite Gold to purchase guns from new NPCs placed around the map. That said, gathering materials provides a good way for the free-to-play Fortnite players to access the top-tier weapons of the game. In either case, with the theme signifying that only the fittest will survive in the battle royale, players will want to take note of the new weapons available and work on adding them to their arsenal.
With the Primal themes of the season come more than just weapons that players can utilize to facilitate their victory. Taming animals will also play a part in how well the Fortnite community adapts to the rapidly changing battle royale, meaning players should expect to encounter wolves, boars, and possibly even dinosaurs given the prehistoric setting. Season 6 is just getting started, and there's no telling what more could arrive over the coming weeks.
Fortnite is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
