With a five-minute sizzle reel of PS5 content, PlayStation Japan highlights some big titles coming soon, but the presentation is turning heads.

With live, in-person events not as easy to coordinate during the COVID-19 pandemic, companies are looking for different ways to announce new titles and share new information with fans. Taking a bit of a different approach to the typical game presentation video, PlayStation Japan revealed a five-minute sizzle reel teasing a number of upcoming titles. A couple of PS5 exclusives make an appearance, but what really turned heads in this presentation was the odd manner in which the short teasers in the video are revealed.

Just a couple days ago, Sony Japan announced a livestream event set for March 21st called "Play! Play! Play!" that will feature looks at Resident Evil Village and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. It seemed like this might be the only event on the calendar for a while, but somewhat unexpectedly, Sony dropped a five-minute video featuring a number of big titles coming to the PS5. The video presents the information on the various titles as if it were a leaked video going viral.

The presentation starts with someone putting together a slide show of upcoming titles, with Final Fantasy 14 being added in, before footage of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is shown. It is here where the video takes the turn, as the person putting the slide show together receives an email marked "untitled" that includes a suspicious looking video file with footage of Resident Evil Village. From here the clips come fast and furious as various leakers share footage with the protagonist of this little story.

In the video, a few games get a bit more showcase time, with the sci-fi action game Returnal getting a push. The PS5 exclusive is set for release at the end of April, when players will finally get the chance to take control of Selene, a space pilot stranded on an alien planet stuck in a time loop. While more detailed trailers featuring gameplay have been shown of Returnal already, here the game is paired with another game with a time loop mechanic, Deathloop.

Guilty Gear Strive, Scarlet Nexus, and Balan Wonderland also appear. Guilty Gear Strive is mulling over another beta test before the game releases this summer, after its first beta revealed some issues with the online interface. Before any game overstays its welcome though, the video wraps up, and the protagonist sends off his finished slide show. The unique style of presentation shows off a number of upcoming titles, and gives fans just a taste of each. With companies experimenting with different presentation styles, this fast five video gives fans a lot in a digestible amount of time.
