Red Dead Redemption 2 gives players a massive world to play in, and they have the freedom to commit whatever crimes they want to while inside it. However, a new detail has been found that shows that cops will react differently depending on the severity of these crimes, once again showing how intricate the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is.
Though Red Dead Redemption 2 is a few years old now, new details are constantly being found. Whether it be hidden lines of dialogue between Arthur Morgan and the gang, complex Easter eggs like the UFOs, or secret NPC behavior, fans always seem to be sharing their discoveries online. The latest clip comes courtesy of Redditor trisome21, and it depicts the player being arrested in three vastly different ways. Intriguingly, each of these requests seems to be tied to a different bounty price.

The first clips shows trisome21, playing as John Marston, with a $15 bounty on his head. In the clip, the officer slowly approaches John, making a comment as he puts the criminal’s arms behind his back. A traditional arrest, the scene plays out as one would expect for a $15 bounty, as the player likely only stole a horse or got into a fist fight at a bar. While the officer treats John with respect in this scene, the other two scenarios show something much different taking place.
In the next part of the clip, the Red Dead Redemption 2 player has built up a bounty of $115. A sizable amount of money at the time, a few high-profile kills were likely on the player’s list of crimes. After approaching this player, the officer punishes them for their medium-sized bounty by throwing them face first into the ground below. While this is rougher, the officer still follows protocol, tying the player’s hands behind their back once they have hit the ground. In the final clip, however, the aggression of the police truly shines.
Boasting a massive $610 bounty, the officer blows his whistle as he marches quickly toward the player. Wasting no time with decency, the cop knocks out John Marston with the butt of his gun. Not only is this a neat detail, but it becomes more impressive considering the fact that many players will likely never see it. If fans want the high honor ending for Arthur, for example, they will likely never commit crimes publicly. Further, if a player does carry out a criminal act, they are likely to pay off the bounty instead of risking an encounter with the police.
With the always growing Red Dead Online filled with small details as well, Rockstar clearly put a lot of time and care into all areas of the game. As such, players can expect to see plenty of clever touches in the studio’s next project, too.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
